Tunnel vision

Recently, In one of my rapid games. I had an attack going on the king. During this, I hung several pieces due to only focusing on moves that could potentially checkmate. There were several moves, such as occupying the open file with my rook to attack the king while hanging a knight while trying to set up more checks. In fact, this happened to me several times in games when I became too focused on an epic mate and lost vision of what matters most. Making the best moves and protecting my pieces. I also do not focus on what my opponent's best move could be. I have visions of them blundering mate in one instead of realistically thinking about their most logical move.
