Chillax to a relaxing game of chess (15+10 rapid on chess.com) on a Saturday played on custom pieces on the Chessnut PRO, to the complete Chopin Preludes, Op. 28! No commentary! Just chess and classical music!
Opening:
My opponent played a French Defense which transposed into Owen’s Defense. Against this, I don’t know any theory and play to opening principles – take the centre with pawns, develop pieces, knights before bishops, and castle.
Middlegame:
Somewhat chaotic where neither of us played very accurately. I gain and material and positional advantage by move 19, capturing a couple of Black’s pawns and rendering them with a broken centre with an isolated e-pawn. However, on move 26, I blunder [-4.6], hanging my rook on e6. Black, however, possibly spooked by the possibility of a trap (there wasn’t one), didn’t take the hanging piece, giving me back the advantage!
Endgame:
I entered the endgame up three pawns. Although Black was significantly up on time (I had drifted to below 1 min vs Black’s 7 minutes), I managed to simplify to a rook and pawn endgame. Using my material advantage, I sacrificed a couple of pawns to advance my c-pawn all the way to the 7th rank. With promotion unstoppable, Black was on the verge of sacrificing their rook for my pawn and so resigned. GG!
