I’ve really been enjoying using the new Chessnut GO out and about. There are two aspects to the portability: (i) that’s it’s simply easy to bring with you, and (ii) that at your destination, using the board doesn’t become awkward due to the lack of space.
Tonight, we went to the amazing Hakiki Turkish Ice Cream in Newtown after dinner, and we had some ice cream, tea, and künefe. Little Chess Noob and I played a short game over dessert and tea!
The game itself perhaps demonstrates a couple of ideas of where beginner players sometimes go wrong… I played a Vienna Game and Little Chess Noob entered the Main Line (1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4 d5). However, after the standard (4. fxe5), he opted for the aggressive (4… Ng4) to counterattack my e5-pawn. However, moving the same piece over-and-over results not only in a loss of tempo in the opening, but risks blundering the piece, which unfortunately occurred with (6… Nc4?? 7. Bxc4).
Afterwards, it was simply a matter pushing ahead with an attack down the f-file in the typical style of the Vienna!
According to Chessnut’s comms, the Chessnut GO will be available for sale midweek from 29th May 2024!
