CRUSHING the Napoleon-ish Queen in the Vienna!
#ViennaGame
The "Reverse Napoleon Attack", or as I've previously called it, the "Napoleon-ish Queen" (https://www.chess.com/blog/vitualis/blunder-dont-play-the-napoleon-ish-queen) is a pretty bad opening against the Vienna Game (1. e4 e5 2. Nc3. Qf6). In fact, the mid-opening, Stockfish gave an advantage to White in the [+4] range!
My opponent saw the error of their ways and retreated their "Napleon-ish Queen" back to d8 on move 4 and we had a game with some interesting positions! Well, at least they were for me as there were some strong winning lines, some of which I didn't really plan for!
On move 12 (12. Qa4), I took advantage of Black's week queen-side defences from a prior trading of my bishop for a knight. For trading my queen, I took from my opponent two pawns, a rook, their queen, and their right to castle!
At the end of that exchange, the evaluation is almost at [+10] and I'm completely winning. My opponent was a great sport and continued playing and made a great counterattack, seemingly sacrificing their knight to win a pawn and rook. In the game, I thought I had made a mistake but incredibly, when I looked carefully, their bishop now in the corner on a1 was actually trapped! Tragic for Black, as this was entirely serendipitous as I didn't plan this whatsoever.
Still, they played on despite it being three pieces vs one, but on move 33, I managed to fork their king and remaining rook, and Black opted to resign. Great game!
