Chessnut has listened to the community and has just released PREMIUM wooden chess pieces for the Chessnut PRO! According to their official communications, only THIRTY (30) sets have been produced, and given that I have personally purchased as set, there is at most only twenty-nine sets left!
Aesthetically, these pieces should go brilliantly with the Chessnut PRO board and are a massive step up in quality to the standard included pieces. At USD$300, they make a lot of sense compared to buying pieces and the sensor chips separately, and then taking the risk creating them yourself.

The first method gives you the greatest range of pieces, and if you buy from a large manufacturer like Royal Chess Mall, Chess Bazaar, or Chess Empire, he quality of the pieces will be reliable. However, removing the weights are a difficult process.
The second method with a specific small manufacturer is quite a bit easier. However, the pieces are comparatively more expensive, and feedback from subscribers have been mixed in terms of quality control of the pieces, customer service and communication. Definitely caveat emptor here.
