Vienna Game | Very Nice Subscriber Game! - Quick Wins #42

chess noob Quick Wins! is a series of short videos, to demonstrate very quick wins! As a beginner, you become aware of the Scholar's Mate and the Fool's Mate, but neither of these show up in real games. However, there are tricky quick checkmates and wins that occur, even at the intermediate level of chess.
Today's game is from one of my subscribers who has made a huge amount of improvement in the past 9 months - from below an ELO of 500 to now in the mid-1200s! They're a Vienna Game fan as well and this is a very lovely quick win in the Vienna!
The game starts with a Vienna Game, Max Lange Defense and Black made an an interesting, aggressive, but not particularly good move on move 3 (1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Qf6). The thing with the Vienna Game is that the queen on f3 is liable to being attacked with Nd5, and often times, there are no real good places to put that queen. The opening progresses in a slightly slow way by both my subscriber and their opponent, until move 8, when my subscriber unleases Nd5!
With the c7 pawn and square underattack, which comes with an absolute fork of the king and rook, Black plays a decisive Kd8 - understandable, but again, not particularly good. Stockfish called it a mistake [+2.5].
My subscriber now plays an audacious piece sacrifice with (9. Nxe7). Stockfish argues that it's an unwarranted loss of a piece, but there is something disruptive with a strong and bold attack! And it worked! Black immediately blunders with (9... Ncxe7), hanging their pawn on e5. My subscriber's other knight now leaps forward, capitalising on the opportunity with (10. Nxe5), capturing the pawn with an attack on the Black queen on g6, winning tempo. The knight leaps forward again, capturing yet another pawn, this time, with a fork of the king and rook (11. Nxf7+). Black, possibly having lost sight of continuity while under the dizzying attacks, captures the knight with the queen, missing the fact that it was protected by the bishop on c4. Move 12, Black loses their queen, suffers emotional damage, and resigns. GG!
