Season's Greetings, New Languages & Goodbye Meebo

Happy Holidays, chess-lovers! We hope that 2012 is going out on a high note for you and your loved ones! We're certainly looking forward to great new things in 2013!

In the meantime, there are a couple of news items we wanted to share with you. Let's start with the "bad news"!

So long, Meebo…

Earlier this year, Meebo was acquired by Google, who quickly discontinued most of Meebo's products and services. The Meebo bar has so far survived, but will shortly be altered to become a kind of adjunct utility for Google Plus users.

With these changes, it's of far less value to us and our users, so we will be removing the bar very shortly.

Hello, new languages!

Now for the good news! It's been a long road, both for us and for the dozens and dozens of volunteer translators who have been helping us translate the site - but we are now very close to going live with the first wave of supported languages!

What this means is that regular users (i.e. non-translators) will be able to view the site in their language of choice!

Want to help us get there faster, in your preferred language?

Check out our Translator's page by clicking here!

The tools are easy to use, and we're making them better all the time! It's easy to translate in context, while you're using the site normally - or you can look at a special page highlighting phrases that still need work.

(By the way, you can always find links in the footer to become a translator or simply to change your default language.)
