Staff Profiles: Aleksander Ikonic
This is the sixth in a series of posts to help people get to know the Chess.com team better. Today, we catch up with the great Aleksander Ikonic! (He doesn't know what castling is.)
Where do you live?
I currently live in Belgrade, Serbia.
How long have you worked for Chess.com?
I've just started my second year here. Probably picked the worst moment to join the team, since everyone was (and probably still is) very busy with the new Chess.com version :) It was all a giant mess at the beginning.
What do you do at Chess.com?
Since I arrived late, I have nothing to do with the current version of Chess.com, so you can't blame me for anything (muahaha). These days, I'm taking care of logic behind statistical pages in v3 (stats, leaderboards, etc.), our email system, tournaments, etc.
What do you like about working here?
Great team! Both professionally and personally. So far, I really enjoy working with everyone.
What are your other hobbies?
I had tons of hobbies before I started working as a developer professionally. Now it's taking most of my day, so my hobbies have come down to taking walks along the river, watching sports, and messing with my car (not so great hobbies, right?)
Do you even know what castling is?
Yeah. I even wanted to try it once, but my girlfriend didn't like the idea of being locked up in a castle.
