Staff Profiles: Yuri
Here is another instalment in a series of posts to help you get to know the Chess.com team a little better! Today, we get to know Yuri Neves Silveira, whom we thank for making Live Chess more and more awesome!
Where do you live?
I live in Brazil, in a small city called Muriaé in the state of Minas Gerais. There's not much to love about it; it's hot as hell and there's nothing to do at all. I guess that's the up side of it: no distractions!
How long have you worked for Chess.com?
I've been working for Chess.com for 14 months now. Before that I tried to join the team but Erik didn't let me. I also created the chessleagues.com website where world league scores are published.
What do you do at Chess.com?
I work mostly on Live Chess. I'm in charge of the v3 client and have been working restlessly to get it in shape, fixing all the bugs and improving performance. I'm honored to work with a great team of developers to pursue this goal. If you haven't tried v3 yet, you should!
What do you like about working at Chess.com?
Everything. The project. The team. The users. I love being able to work anywhere at anytime I want. Best job ever.
What are your other interests and hobbies?
I'm not having too much time for hobbies lately, but whenever I can, I enjoy playing some Chess or Starcraft. I like traveling for rock festivals and getting tattoos. I also have some personal projects which I spend some of my free time coding.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I don't know, never really thought of it. Maybe i could be like Ant-man, that would be nice!
0-0 or 0-0-0?
I like playing the english, so 0-0 most of my games.
Thanks! Stay tuned for more team profiles and all the news about what's happening at Chess.com!
