Gukesh | World Championship Defense| Fabi in the way
Hello everybody welcome back to Aji Corner sorry for not posting in a while I have been active but not really getting ideas to post but from now onwards I plan on writing my natural blogs and together working to become a top blogger but for day I apologize for the long gap in posting.
Now to the topic of this blog I wanted to dive into Gukesh performance in recent tournmants and even in 2025 performances.
As a world champion he has high expectations which many belive he is not matching considering the fact he has not one a single tournament in the elite level after his world championship. And this year he will have to defend his title as many people saying he might not be able to. In the Freestyle Glam Slam tour 2025 in a interview top players were asked what is the percentage in that interview GM Arjun Eragasi was asked and he wrote 28% percent showing that people were unlikley thinking of that he will be able to defend his title. Now the people in the candidates are very strong as and the current favorite is Fabino Caurauna.
After Magnus left his reign our past world champions have been very undesive as Ding Liren had lost his magic on the board and did not play chess for a while after becoming world champion. Now Gukesh still activley plays and is defeating top players as we all remember in Norway Chess 2025. But he is just getting short term wins but in a world championship it is a 14 round consistent performance and a few blows will not define the whole tournmant.
Let us compare the favorite of the candidates to our world chess champion. Fabi's team won the Global Chess League he became the US champion he was crowned Global Chess tour champion. He also defeated Gukesh to get a higher place than him in Norway Chess 2025 as he got 2nd place following the G.O.A.T and Gukesh got 3rd. Gukesh on the other hand had a terrible FIDE Grand Swiss performance losing to the worlds youngest Grandmaster Abhimanuyu Mishra in a shocking turn of events also losing to Turket superstars as Ediz Gurzel. Though this year he had a early win against Yagiz Kaan Erogmoundas and had a draw in the Grand Swiss he had a stunning draw against Women World Cup Champion Divya Deshmukh in The FIDE Grand Swiss he made Magnus Carlsan slam the table in Norway Chess 2025. He got second place in the Tata Steel Masters tournmant he won the Rapid Section in the Rapid part of the Crotica Rapid tour defeating Magnus him self to the title. Now I mentioned earlier he didn't win anything but clearly he did so now in a better way to rephrase that he won something but had many more losses than wins in his reign not the usual higher performance expected by a World champion. Though the beggening of the year was great he was World No 3 and he was second in the Tata Steel Chess.
In this game with Gukesh vs Fabi you can see that Gukesh Blundered a super easy fork that lead him to lose the chance of winning the tourmant and put him in 3rd Place as this mistake was a mistake a 1000 would try to avoid.
I hope you learned something new in this Blog.
