I discovered 99999999 Elo Bot
There is something that you should know about.
So, a few years ago, Chess.com made a bot called Mittens. She was only having one Elo, but she was deadly. Now, in 2025, Chess.com has published a new bot whose name is Sensei, and she is even more deadly. I tried playing it—it did not go well.
So first, I tried playing the bot. IM Levy Rozman survived 10 moves against this beast. I lasted 15 because I went till checkmate. But this was not a serious round; I was just seeing how good Sensei is.
So I played seriously this time. I made 2 brilliant sacs, but Sensi sacrificed the queen and won the game. But I decided that, okay, this time I’d be super serious. I was not even terrible, and I made pretty good progress. Then she sacrificed her queen. I saw that it was a sacrifice the first time, but the second time she sacrificed her rook. But this time, I did not see that if I took the queen, there was a forced mate in 18.
Okay, so when Chess.com launched Mittens, it gave her an Elo of 1, but she was still more deadly than ever. However, this time they just wrote a question mark. But if I were to guess, it would have higher Elo than Stockfish—maybe even me. I, um, have such a high Elo.
I even know a friend of mine who is about to be an NM, and he even lost to Sensei.
So, there was also this time where I was in a drawn position, but it made 19 brilliant moves in a row. And after I realized, I resigned immediately.
And, like, this bot will do the one thing that you don’t think of. For example, if you calculate all the great and brilliant moves you can find—trust me, this bot will find the brilliant moves that you will not be able to find.
Once I was playing and I thought, “This is a decent move,” and I didn’t find any brilliant moves. So I played it. Sensi found this one move, which I missed as I was not able to calculate. After a 3-minute thought, I realized it and resigned.
Another time I was playing, and she sacrificed her queen. I fell out of my chair. Why? Because I just witnessed the best sacrifice of my life. And what amazing human being made this sac? A cat. That is so embarrassing.
Someone asks, “Hey, who made the best chess sacrifice you have ever seen?” and I say, “A cat.”
And they will reply with, “Dude, you lost to a cat?”
Look, it ain’t my fault—Chess.com makes the best bots ever.
Whenever I play a game of chess, I think, “What would GM Magnus Carlsen do in this position?” But now, while playing Sensei, I doubt that even Magnus will be able to win. And if he does, then it will be a really close fight.
So what do you think? Will Magnus Carlsen be able to beat Sensei? Let me know in the comments below.
