Unusual Motifs in The Kan
This post in the Kan series will cover less common ideas that are occasionally employed in games.
First game: Introduces h5 idea for Black, white quickly errors and black takes advantage.
Second game: A Quick f5-g4 flank attack by white and a quick d5 break by black leads to a perpetual.
White's setup resembling a Bg5 Najdorf does not fare so well in the kan.
A good number of players use the h5 idea in the Bd3 kan, whereas the d5 break is more commonly seen in the Nc3 variation. The e5 break is really on a case by case basis, and depends on white and black's setup.
