Ladies and Gentlemen, whenever anything good has to happen, you will have to have the copycat ripoff staggering off and making cheap bucks in its wake and  trail. But in this case, the cheap knockoff (lichess) has actually garnered a following in the chess world. So (wesley) its time to put an end to this debate after all. I will give some criterias, and I will be ranking both of  these platforms off that criteria. So without further ado, lets go!

Also if any of these offends you, you  can argue peacefully in the comments. Thank you and do not start  a war about which one is better.

1- Interface:  Chess.com

Hands down, chess.com has to be the winner. It has a really nice ux design, and also is very interactive (just look at the bots and coaches!) The live interface is a little bit underwhelming compared to fide online arena or lichess, because you can select pairings, but chess.com's automatic pairing system is much better, because half of the matches in fide online arena get cancelled due to mismatch. Also the tournaments, they are quite much more easy to understand that complex lichess. Also lichess just looks like one of those early internet interfaces that used to exist in the 1990's back when Bill Gates just started to introduce microsoft, and apple was releasing its computers. Sorry lichess, but I guess only old Grandmasters in europe who are 60+ use you. Grow up lichess, this isn't 1990.

Back to the future? How about back to the past!

2- Community : Chess.com

Seriously, who even uses lichess? I am ashamed to say that most of the people of my country, Pakistan, are on lichess. This is sad, because most people do not use lichess to play chess. Its just waaay too confusing for beginners,  and I would definitely recommend new users to go to chess.com. Chess.com really helps with you developing as a chess player, as they offer lessons, game reviews, and insights on how you play. They not only give you a chess platform, they literally MAKE you into a chess player by giving you the adequate resources. You can become a decent intermediate player by just staying on chess.com. After that you can refine the nitty gritty stuff by going to a chess coach. So its safe to say chess.com will take the cake on this one.

Danny the donkey? seriously magnus?

3- pricing : Lichess

I am unbaised, so I will have to give credit where it's due. Lichess is way more efficient if you want to stay free. Chess.com has recently started to put everything behind a payroll, including the legendary thing that is game reviews and analysis. Lichess on the other hand, offers much of these things for free, and does not put things behind a payroll. Good on you, lichess.

4- Ratings : Chess.com

The rating system of lichess is just not good. The player pool is incredibly small, and its not rewarding at all winning. Its just an overinflated rating system. Also its literally one of those donation sites that get extra pushy with their donations.

5- Accessibility : chess.com

There are less things that you can do on lichess. Even on normal mode for chess.com you can do puzzlerush, 1 lesson a week and be able to see grandmasters games live. Chess.com is better in doing so many other things. Lichess is old and dusty, and not worth it. There are so many other things you can do at chess.com without even playing games. Its just much fun. But then again, much of those things are behind a payroll and not accessible to free users. That being said, chess.com is way better if you have money in your pocket, but if you don't, then still opt for chess.com. Its just better.
