The Top 5  Openings As  White

Disclaimer: The Following openings presented are solely my opinion and does not necessarily reflect what the viewers must think. Some of my recommended openings may not just suit you so dont cry a river after you lost a game playing after playing something of my recommendation.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the opening is probably the most important thing in a chess game, though not the most crucial (that goes in the endgame). It sets the tone for the game to come, helps players in building vital attacks, securing their king, and overall developing their (mostly minor) pieces to secure vital outposts. That being said, some openings are preferred above the others, and I have preferred my special set of openings. I've listed a top 5 of my own openings.

Now, just before I start, please remember this is my opinion and my opinion only. So if you disagree with me, you can politely differ in the comments. So lets start.

Now, I commonly go with 1.d4 as my prime setup. I prefer the Queens Gambit for a variety of reasons, but mostly because it helps me setup a lot more attacks compared to the King's pawn.

after 1.d4 and 2.e5 here is what I normally play.

Number 5 : The Trompowsky Attack

Ah, I always hate it when any opponent plays the indian game. It is just so infuriating. But I prefer the Trompowsky over anything else because its an aggressive, counterattacking opening that goes after the knight who is vying for a center control and possibly  a kings indian attack. This will definitely give your opponent troubles if you go into a solid line and keep the center intact.

Number 4: Queens Pawn opening, Chigorin Variation

Against low rated players, I've always found the Chigorin to be a versatile options. Just yesterday I won a FIDE rated tournament and at the final match i opted for this instead of the London system. Its kind of like it, but you just play the knight  out instead of sideways. Let me show you.

Now, If you are playing against an intermediate player, you can threaten their rook fork and get them in quite a bit of trouble.

now naturally they would opt to block the pawn, which can lead to an absolutely stunning sacrifice. But remember this will work against lower to intermediate rated players.

Number 3: The Catalan Opening

If you’re a fan of fianchetto setups, the Catalan Opening will be right up your alley.

This opening really targets the long diagonal with a  powerful bishop advantage.

Number 2: The London System

The London system is one of my favorite opening setups and the one aside from Number one I play against high rated opponents. It gives you a strong opening setup with a commanding position. Best part, you can repeat these moves against literally any move from black, as there is little change and you have a brilliant strong setup.

Number 1: The Queen's gambit.

I normally play this line against top opponents. It's very versatile, aggressive, challenging the center, and up-ending your development. Plus, it has many lines, and is much more spicier than the London System.

black has a few options:

2…c6 – Slav Defense
2…e6 – Queen’s Gambit Declined
2…dxc4 – Queen’s Gambit Accepted
2…Nc6 – Chigorin Defense
2…e5 – Albin Counter-Gambit
