ECF Members  - This is the Official Club of the English Chess Federation.  Club membership is limited to ECF members and supporters who will be eligible to play in regular ECF club tournaments and events and achieve an ECF online rating based on their results.

JoiningTo be accepted you must first be a member or supporter of the ECF which you can join here:

You should then:

  1. Fill out the following ECF Authentication form (
  2. Click the "Join" button for this club after you are redirected upon form completion.

We will approve verified applicants as quickly as we can!

Club Events - We currently run two ECF organised and rated club tournaments each week at blitz and rapid time controls. Details of upcoming events, results and tournament links are published on the ECF web site and can be found in the latest schedule here:

The schedule is currently as follows:

ECF Friday Evening Slow Blitz - Starts at 20-00, runs for 90 minutes, 10|0 Arena Format

ECF Sunday Evening Rapid - Starts at 20-00,, 3 or 4 rounds, 15|10 Swiss  Format

ECF Thursday Afternoon Rapid - Starts at 14-00, runs for 90 minutes, 15|10 Arena Format

Next Tournament - Our next tournaments is the Thursday Afternoon Slow Blitz  at  2-00 pm on 28/05.  This will be a 10|0 Swiss tournament  at the link here: 

National Championship -  The group stage of the English Blitz Championships took place on 9th May with the finals on 16th May. The group stage results are here:

The tournaments are all ECF online rated.


Ratings - Club tournament games are rated by the ECF with 4 digit ECF online ratings published on a monthly basis for different time controls on the ECF web site.

ECF Members Club matches from 08 Jan onwards are ECF online rated with ECF Blitz and Rapid Internet ratings published here: - on a monthly basis.
ECF Internet ratings are completely separate from ECF OTB ratings which will not be impacted by internet games.
International Matches -  The ECF club will be taking part in the Nations League which will be running separate daily and rapid competitions. You can find further details here
and we will publish details of fixtures in the two events as soon as they are available.
The Club also endorses the Team-England-Live club for participation in online Blitz and Rapid International matches and events, and the Team England Club for participation in the Daily (3 days per move) World League, European League and Chess960 World League competitions.
