REMINDER: Most of North America will switch to Daylight Saving Time (DST) on March 8 at 2 AM. Clocks will move forward one hour. ("Spring forward, fall back"). Remember this when scheduling your games if you use UTC, as the time offset relative to UTC will change. For example, EST is currently UTC minus 5 hours. During DST, EDT will be UTC minus 4 hours.
If you've enjoyed 1 of my events or appreciate the effort, you can consider supporting my voluntary work here at https://ko-fi.com/fhunfi or at https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/various-ways-to-help-supporting-me-as-tournament-director-and-90m-30s-club-owner Thanks much
For smooth and successful negotiation, please contact your opponent as early as you can. That way both of you will find the maximum flexibility, even if both of you are in different continent with difficult time zone to deal with.
If you join 1 of 90.30 or 45.45 you'll have a game every 2 weeks but if you join both 90.30 and 45.45 you'll have a game each week because I arrange that start of each round of 90.30 & 45.45 overlap by a week apart. Participant of 60.30 will have 1 extra game monthly
As Tourney Director my duty is to assure that participants have a manageable schedule amid their busy life, by starting & finishing all rounds as planned scheduled. Under normal condition, never be any delay, all runs like clockwork.
Your part as player: Have good scheduling by respect opponent & make them wait with more certainty. eg: Send offer early (it's best fr day 1) & reply promptly even with brief msg, eg:I can't play in few days ahead but I will let know as soon as I know my avail time
In a world that moves at an unrelenting pace, chess offers a gentle wisdom: pause before you move. In its silence, it whispers that patience is another form of courage.
An online chess match becomes a quiet arena where honesty is tested. The game endures through the trust that each move is shaped by the human mind. In an age of rapid technological advance, protecting integrity is the most strategic move—one that preserves the soul of chess.
Sitting across from someone for hours in OTB (Over The Board) is a different kind of pressure. Your real habits appear and the quality of play is higher because you and your opponent really want to beat each other. Hope-chess thinking will get punished.
Online can feel like practice while OTB feels like a stage. But even if you only play online, you can raise your level by competing regularly in serious online 4545 / 6030 / 9030 tournaments like we have and analyze every finished games.
