@Rsava Can I get the same set of capabilities using the Chessnut Pro and an iPad? Or is the chipset in the EVO and software separate from the Pro, thus requiring the EVO for the same experience.
The pro (especially with the premium pieces) is a pure joy to play with, especially with the Chessconnect extension. It is probably the closest you can come to an OTB experience without actually playing OTB.
I think the Chessnut team is working on making the apps (iOS and Android) come in line with the Evo functionality. Not positive but that does seem to be the direction they are moving with it.
There are other functions as well with the Evo but that is a lot to put here. Perhaps go to YouTube and search out videos from katznepapa, Al Su, and our very own @vitualis.
The Pro is a full-sized board, like the Air but standard tournament size for the board and pieces. The Evo board is the same size as the Air (pieces are the same size, but different colors) but it has a built in Android tablet as well. It can do more, although the new app for the boards is looking similar.
What are the differences between the PRO and the EVO? Or both boards have the same possibilities?
I already have the Air and I also ordered the Go. Now I'm in the process of deciding between the pro and evo.
Stay tuned for a Chessnut tournament, I will post a forum topic for signups shortly, and run one or two to see how they will work. The only requirement is - you should use a Chessnut board. All will be welcome to play, most likely will be a 15+10 time control, but more likely a 30+30 or 45+45.
With regards to the ChessUp 2, I don't recall seeing that it supports tournaments in any of their promotional material. My view is to not assume that it's supported until it's been released and demonstrated. Even with the Chessnut Air/Air+/PRO, tournaments aren't supported by first party software, but works with Chessconnect.
As for the Go, it is also on order, but @vitualis has a couple of blog posts here on chess[]com and some others have early review vids on YouTube. I am looking forward to it for traveling but at home I will still be using my Chessnut Pro, Evo and Air most of the time.
Welcome to the obsession known as e-boarditis. The Chessup 2 is not out yet, so it is hard to say anything about that. I have the Chessup 1 and while it is good, I prefer my Chessnut boards. But I do have a Chessup 2 on order.
Just picked up the Air. Love it! Has anyone played any rated tournaments with the boards? Thinking about buying the Go and Chessup 2. Thoughts on those 2?
