Guys, I need some help here; since Dec. I can no longer post YouTube video's in the Forums............... I have read the tread, where several people did some suggestions, ways around..... that worked for them (windows users), but I tried all their suggestions, and NOTHING worked with UBUNTU 12.04.

Go to chromium.org, joe. I deactivated some addons. Can't let my hands off of firefox. (looks good, yet) When I lived in the windows paralelluniverse, opera was my number 1 choice, I missed the built-in read out option in linux. But I found opera always very sophisticated, and Firefox more convenient. Both are high-quality.

thanks! I haven't used opera myself for a while

To be honest, since I have not used it now for 3-4 years ago, I think that Kepheus, who is working with Opera right now, would be a better person to ask......

LadyAngel, how is opera in other areas? It's been getting a lot better lately, from what I hear

I'm glad that Opera is working a lot better. :-) Thanks for keeping us updated. Have a nice day!

Problems with chess.com and firefox went out of control. Switched to Opera. Works like a charm. I believe an addon (flashblock) has caused this mess. When found out, I tell you.

And over a year ago, I could not see any pieces on the board, just a grey board.

Thanx for the hints rafa, dan and angel. no clue in /var/log/messages, I think I got little over the top with the desktop effects. strange thing is, that only chess.com is affected. It got better, though.

Try looking at /var/log/messages right after it closes and see if there is some clue over there.

I don't know but I'm guessing there's a log file somewhere detailing the Firefox error. Worst-case, use a different browser I guess.

Since it is only me having this problem, it must not be no big deal. The thing is, it happens Only here at chess.com. Anyway, don't waste no thought, thanks still.

I am also working with Ubuntu 12.04, and I have no problems. Did you maybe recently install something new?

Hello Helipacter, I find "scid" a very good chess learning program. Itisin the repositories, too. Covers pretty much everything.
