Hello everyone!

I wanted to talk about something I've been thinking about.

I would like to start this text with it, nothing more and nothing less than Psalm 37! It's incridible how many things we can learn from this Psalm! The passage is as follows:

"Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

[...]

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth." (Psalm 37. 1-2 and 8-9)

What is your reaction when you are faced with a situation in which you see someone doing evil or doing something wrong and it seems that there is no one to stop this situation? You can say something like "I feel very angry" or "outraged". Whatever your answer was, I wanted to talk about something I've been thinking about for a while.

Do you remember Moses story? He was a right man. Sometimes, reading his story we can think that everyone in that nation was bad, except Moses. While everybody was complaining he was angry because the people were desobeying God! But one day the people were asking water and complaining again and Moses was angry. He hit the rock and water gushed out of it. Let's take a look at this passage:

"10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also." (Number 20.10-11)

We can see here that he was clearly angry. Let's take a look at another passage>

"32 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips." (Psalm 106.32-33)

Moses was angry because of the people who disobeyed God. Although he was a correct man, he ended up being being punished like the disobedient people.

Some Bibles say "Don't get angry. Don't be upset; it only leads to trouble." in verse 8 of Psalm 37. And that's very true!

Jesus said: "37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." (Luke 6.37)

It's normal for us to feel uncomfortable when we see wrong things being done around us, but we can't let this feeling drive our thoughts and much less our mouths and actions! We feel angry because people around us simply do bad and wrong things. It's right that we don't think these things are right. But we also need to remember that we are also humans and we also have flaws! The difference betwen us and these people is that we care more about what is right than they do. But if we, who are full of flaws, judge someone, how can we think we are better off than that person?

So the best we can do is what is written in Psalm 37:

"7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him."
