***ADMINS WHO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON, THIS POST IS JUST A RECOMMENDATION AND WE MIGHT NOT DO ANYTHING THAT I SUGGEST IN IT. oh, and I don't want this to look like I'm taking things into my own hands because this is, again, just a suggestion.***

First of all, sorry for my inactivity. I have been online as much as possible recently and I know many other members of the club are in this situation as well. I have some things to address in this forum though.

First of all, it is the apparent lack of inviting. We have been between 970 and 990 members for months now, and I know it's really hard to find more members, but I think we need a new refresher on how to invite successfully. I guess I'll be the person to do that. One way that I invited all of the last summer was inviting all of my friends through notes (to find the message I used, just look in my bio at the bottom.) Then, I would invite every player that I played a game against using the same message through the notes.

Another way to invite is to just use the invites that chess.com allows you through the club if you're an admin. I invite like this as much as possible because it's easy, but it's not as effective as the notes method. If people get tons of emails, they won't go through all of them. Also, I don't know about you guys, but I NEVER join clubs I get invites to through messaging.

A way to find active, high quality, and interested members is to go into the clubs the super fun club and narwhals and go through their members. If you see any members that aren't in our club, invite them through notes. This is a sure way to find interested members. I'd suggest using Narwhals instead of TSFC.

I know this has to do a lot with inactivity, but when I was just starting as an ameteur inviting coordinator at this club I had my overseers (specifically, Checkmate) check in with me about every day asking who I had invited. If our overseers did this now, it would work very well and would ensure that admins are doing their jobs.

Off to the side, I think that admins in the club should be admins in the senate, sas in the club should be sa's in the senate, and coordinators in the club should be coordinators in the senate. It'll be easier to manage who is who that way.

Next, I'd like to address Activity Points. activity points are a great idea and I think we're pretty much there but if we're going to do this sucessfully we need active members (going along with inviting.) it'll be much better in the summer with activity though. We NEED to make the descisions about it though. I think one way to do this well could be with a voting system. We have to have EVERYONE in the senate to vote and we'll hold voting for one week. SAs' votes would be worth 4 points, admins' votes would be worth 2 points, and coordinators would be worth 1 point. The forum that we hold this voting in would be exclusively for voting, and if people want to debate then they can do it in other forums or in the notes. I think that if someone disagrees, too bad. After the vote is held, I think the descision should be final. This will avoid delays of the release. We have to come into two main viewpoints, though. One could be "We release this now, and the SAs make the post and include all the information about activity points. then we'll start about a week after we've made the informational post." another viewpoint would be, "we give this idea a couple weeks and think about it again". But all things aside, we NEED to have a descision on this soon. if not, what would we have the whole announcement in the bio of our club for? I've seen ideas like this before in clubs and they didn't work out well (ahem, T-Bucks in the Tactical Knights, *cough cough* GM bucks in the Best chess pros and masters, ahem). One reason why they didn't work was because there a) wasn't enough member activity which shouldn't be a problem since we have 1k members almost anyway b) it was unoorganized and people were lying about their activity c) the people who managed the giving of currency were overloaded with work. Those are the three main reasons why these were flops. I think we could solve reason a just with some more inviting, but it shouldn't be a huge problem. B and C could be solved by adding a whole new admin team for activity points. this would ensure that we wouldn't get overloaded. We could make sure people weren't lying just by having one or two people to check the accountability of the source. We also need some better communication between admins. maybe our old discord server could come in handy.

Finally, we just need some little things to be fixed. We should dedicate one or two people to updating the club description every week, that's something I could do. We would have to make them SA though, so they'd have to be very trustworthy. They wouldn't have to be too active though. Whoever does that job though has to make sure it's not ugly looking and so it looks professional. Look at the current one after you're done reading this; it looks horrible! People didn't know the control-shift-v trick that pastes without formatting and so now you can litterally guess that the person who made the quote of the week litterally looked up chess quotes. It's not that easy. Moving on, I think that it should be okay for admins just to randomly make new chess tourneys. This is something I don't think has to be as organized. If we have tournaments 3 times a week at 1 pm est then people who aren't in the same time zone wouldn't be able to play since they could be in school, or sleeping. To increase activity, I think that admins could just say hi and stuff in the notes. This increases notifications for the members but no one will quit because of that. I think that member numbers will always go up and down just as the year goes on and during the school year they'll be a little low but we do what we can.
