I was thinking we could have a yearly calendar of Ultra Bullet tournaments that would be something along these lines. I know this is ambitious and complicated, but I think all the events would be a lot of fun. Let me know what you think about this idea and how it could be improved.

Grand Prix (January-February) This would be a series of Swiss (or maybe Arena) tournaments that would take place throughout these months and we would tabulate the points at the end and the top three finishers would qualify for the Candidates Tournament.
Variants Championships (March-April) I was thinking we could have some events to make up 3 Check, King of the Hill, Crazyhouse, Chess960 (and maybe even Bughouse and Four Player Chess) Championships.
Knockout Championship (May-June) I think the knockout format is really fun, but maybe it shouldn't be the whole World Championship cycle. I was thinking we could have the top three finishers from a knockout championship qualify for the Candidates Tournament.
Candidates Tournament (July-August) The Candidates Tournament would be made up of the top three finishers in the Grand Prix and the Knockout Championship, the runner up of the previous World Championship and one wildcard. The winner would play in the World Championship.
Ultra Bullet Chess Olympiad (September-October) The Ultra Bullet Chess Olympiad would be made up of several teams from different parts of the world. Since there are more people in certain countries than others, we could make a form asking people who are interested in playing what country and city/region they live in and then break down equal teams based on that.
World Championship (November-December) The World Championship would be a long series of games in different time controls between the winner of the Candidates Tournament and the reigning champion (who would be asg2 if we were to use this system now). I think this is one event that we could play with and change to fit what we want in a World Championship.
