So great to see players writing down their games following our lesson! And here is our first recorded game. Looks like the early white queen was a big shock to black. Keep your cool black. 1. e4 c6 2. Qh5 Nf6 3. Qb5 Nxe4 4. Qh5 Nf6 5. Bc4 Ng4 6. Qxf7# 1-0 And what a great comeback! Black kept its cool after-all. The game record shows black delivering # on move 42 but I must have missed something along the way (or was there a forfeit?) and took the computer recommendation on best moves for black winning on move 46. In fact, the computer recognized mate in 5 on move 41 so maybe there was a forfeit... wow what a game played!!!

Watching an older UFC fighting match, the commentator said "nice little chess match here". Out of curiosity, had to see how this match could translate to chess. I think not too far off with the Four Knights Game:1. e4 e5Poirier starts off aggressively, aiming to control the center and establish dominance.2. Nf3 Nf6Hooker responds cautiously, mirroring Poirier's moves and preparing to counterattack.3. Nc3 Nc6Both fighters continue to develop their positions, probing for weaknesses and positioning their pieces strategically.4. d4 exd4Poirier initiates a tactical exchange, seizing the opportunity to capture Hooker's pawn and gain a positional advantage.5. Nxd4 Bb4Hooker responds by targeting Poirier's weakened pawn structure, seeking to disrupt his opponent's plans.6. Nxc6 bxc6Poirier sacrifices a knight to maintain control of the center and pave the way for future attacks.7. Bd3 d5Hooker counters with a bold pawn advance, aiming to break open the center and create tactical opportunities.8. exd5 cxd5Poirier exchanges pawns, consolidating his position and preparing to launch a coordinated assault on Hooker's position.9. O-O O-OBoth fighters castle their kings, fortifying their positions and preparing for the intense battles ahead.10. Bg5 c6Poirier presses forward, positioning his bishop to target Hooker's vulnerable pawn structure and create threats along the diagonal.11. Qf3 Be7Hooker defends his position, maneuvering his bishop to protect his pawns and maintain stability.12. Rae1 Rb8Poirier launches a rook maneuver, aiming to exert pressure along the b-file and threaten Hooker's pawn structure.13. Qg3 Rb4Hooker counters with a tactical rook move, seeking to disrupt Poirier's plans and create complications on the board.14. h3 Rxb2Poirier sacrifices a pawn to open lines of attack against Hooker's king and create weaknesses in his opponent's position.15. Qh4 h6Hooker defends resourcefully, creating an escape route for his king and preventing immediate threats from Poirier.16. Bxh6 gxh6Poirier sacrifices his bishop, launching a daring attack against Hooker's king and intensifying the pressure on his opponent's position.17. Qxh6 Rb4Hooker remains composed, countering Poirier's threats and preparing to launch a counterattack of his own.18. Qh7#Poirier delivers a decisive checkmate, capitalizing on Hooker's weakened position and emerging victorious after a grueling battle. UFC Poirier vs Hooker
