Hey guys, just initiating this 12-Week Plan post to document my progress. I played tournaments from 2002-2004 and peaked my USCF rating at 1400. After an 18-year hiatus I'm back in the game and ready to up my level! I'd like to ultimately get to Class A and then Expert level as a realistic goal over this 2020s decade. My Chess.com ratings: Rapid 1582 Blitz 1227 Bullet 673 Daily 1340 Puzzle 2029 # Games 503 # Lessons 102 I'm excited to see how these change over the 12-weeks, hopefully ending at a higher level by May. I'll be using the Intermediate Rapid & Classical Plan as best I can. I'm also a member of the local chess clubs in town, so fortunately there is a community of people that are meeting weekly to play and study. The skill levels vary but there are a few Class A/B players and one expert and one master that show up which is really nice. I've purchased all the Chess Goals opening courses and will work through those to build my opening repertoire. Primarily a white e4 player, my first focus it to go through and master the e4 course. I've currently been playing the Sicilian and Kings Indian Defense as black, however I'm open to the c6 move and will study the Caro and Slav lines during this timeframe. Week 1: Feb 21-27 Week 2: Feb 28 - Mar 6 Week 3: Mar 7 - 13 Week 4: Mar 14 - 20 Week 5: Mar 21 - 27 Week 6: Mar 28 - April 3 Week 7: April 4 - 10 Week 8: April 11 - 17 Week 9: April 18 - 24 Week 10: April 25 - May 1 Week 11: May 2- 8 Week 12: May 9 - 15 It will be interesting Week 6-10 (April) to see what happens as I'm traveling across the US in this time period. Maybe chess takes the backburner or maybe I'll be playing even more, I can't really see that too clearly right now, but my intention is to keep progressing over that timeframe however I can. Looking forward to Week 1, let's go!

Study Plan Start Date: 04/20/2022 About myself: I'm 22 years old and I started playing chess casually in highschool, participating in a few Scholastic tournaments for roughly 2 years before stopping entirely upon graduation. My USCF rating during that time period peaked around 900! Upon dropping out of college amidst the start of Covid, I picked chess back up at the beginning of 2021 and joined a club in the city. After getting reacquainted with OTB games, I decided to join some local tourneys throughout the state and have increased my OTB rating significantly! Currently, I'm at a 1500 OTB rating and my goal this year is to reach 1700 or higher (: After a few months of studying under ChessGoals, I have decided to finally begin the study plan process! Due to the recent abundance of free time, I have increased the workload of this Intermediate Study Plan in proportion to Matt's suggestions. I'm excited to see the results!

Alright, it's time for Study Plan #3! Last time I did the Rapid & Classical plan, and had a very solid boost to my Rapid rating, as well as getting some solid preparation in for my first OTB tournament in over a year. Now with Study Plan #3 I'm going to focus again on including more Blitz and trying to play more games for the next few months. Initial Week 1 Ratings (Lichess): Blitz: 1776 Rapid: 1992

Greetings. This is my study plan log. The goal is to update daily. I'm about 1300 USCF and am looking to improve in all areas, but particularly in classical chess. Day 0: Daily games started. Acquired Silman's Endgames and Yusupov's books.

First day of the Beginner 1 Study Plan. I will log my ratings weekly, each week on Monday. As of now my ratings on this site are: Rapid: 587Puzzles: 1186Daily: 751Blitz: 299
Played a little chess as a youngster, casual games with family. Not even sure we were playing by the correct rules back then. Picked back up playing again a year or so back. Just a few games here on chess.com. Been mostly playing the bots, a little intimidated to play online. Thought maybe if I actual take the time to learn and get better, I'll enjoy playing online more. Came across the Beginner Study Plan from chessgoals.com, thought I'd give it a shot. Starting Ratings: Daily 800(no games) Rapid 944(8-10-1) Blitz 800(no games) Puzzles 1503

Hi everyone! I am Alex. I've just downloaded the "ChessGoals Intermediate Study Plan", and it looked like a great plan for me to study! Right now I've only attended 5 USCF-rated games so far, and I have a temporary rating of around 1540. I usually play on lichess though, and my lichess rating is: Bullet: 1919 Blitz: 1862 Rapid: 1909 This post will be used to keep track of my progress throughout each day. Day One: Currently, I am playing one classical USCF-rated game every Friday in a tournament. I've just finished the game tonight and won a game against a 1700 using Caro Kann Tartakower as black. I won the game in 17 moves with a bishop sacrifice on h3, a very thematic attack in the Tartakower, and got a mate in two after the sacrifice. I have spent my entire afternoon studying Tartakower and prepared against the line, so I am glad it paid off. Given that I have played a classical game, this will probably substitute two of the rapid games in the plan. Besides the tournament game, I have started a daily game and solved a bunch of puzzles on lichess.

Starting the Intermediate plan on 3/14/2022.Played lots of OTB in the late 80s early 90s, then stopped cold turkey. Trying to get back to playing both OTB & online. The goal is to do OTB in the spring. I prefer slow time controls, I use to be good at blitz but not so much anymore.

I'm late getting this figured out. I'm actually starting week 3. I'm certainly enjoying the process. I wasn't playing much blitz previously as rapid and slower is my preference. My current ratings are:Blitz 997, Rapid 1394, Daily 1650, Puzzles 2013.

Hello for everyone. Long time, isn't it? Well, some live things take away great part of my chess time. Three months at least. But, right now I am recovering from this dark age. I will start today my intermediaye adult study plan (it's freeeeee on chessgoals site 😁). Started my daily chess game and played my first 15+10 game (analysis below). My resources that I will use: - Woodpecker method: chessable course - strategy review: physical book 'reassess your chess' - Opening review: d4 and caro-kann starting out + triangle system (kindle books). I choose these books because I use the chessgoals repertoire. Just get a better understanting of it. - endgame review Silman endgame course (physical book). My first 15+10 analysis: Takeaways: 1- the opening is a little bit outside my repertoire. Use one thing or two from 'against the London'. Work pretty well. 2- Good pressure during middlegame, trying to trade and getring better position. 3- move 28 was a big mistake. Lazy calculation. Did not see Bf6 blocking the check. 4- move 37 was a mistake too. Hurry to reach a winning endgame, but keep the pressure to the exposed king was the right thing to do. Well, it is it for this post. Thank you all.

Hey, just found the Chess Goals website and downloaded the study plan. I played some OTB tournaments about 30 years ago and just getting "re-started" again. So far I've focused on puzzles and daily games, with a few rapid games in the 15-20 minute range. Blitz scares me (and currently stuck with a laptop without a mouse...)! Daily: 1351 (and doing well in an online tourney!) Rapid: 1111 Puzzles: 1925 (peak 2104) Blitz/Bullet: N/A (yet) I'm a little surprised that the plan does not include more puzzle/tactics training. I'm going to forego the two recommended books for now (another $60 on this "hobby"? LOL). I've been doing 30 puzzles/day on chesspuzzle.net - Highly recommend their Puzzle Academy! I'll be using Puzzle Academy in place of the Yusupov and Woodpecker books. Also, it's really interesting that the two Black openings you recommend are the exact same ones I finally landed on after weeks of frustrating research! I'm currently going through the Caro Kann course by GothamChess. I'll probably go with your Slav course at some point - looks really cool! 1.d4 -Nat

Hi team. I kicked off the 12 Week Beginner Training Plan ... two weeks ago. There's been a bit on at work and I'm struglging to study less and play more, and as such I haven't really stuck to the plan or played many games yet. My short term goal is to lose more games!! I figure the more I lose the better the opponents, the more I learn and the stronger I get. Starting ratings are below. I will update regularly over the coming weeks and months. Thanks for your support. Chess.com Ratings Date 14-Mar-22 Puzzle Rush 18 Puzzles 1837 Daily 1341 Blitz 601 Rapid 1362

In the intermediate plan: What do you mean with "slow games", "opening/endgame/strategy review" and "chess content"? I don't know what to do. (What i want to say: What is a slow game? Or chess content, opening/endgame/strategy review?)
