I have found a revolutionary strategy that will make it so that you never get checkmated again. Not even top engines will be able to checkmate you. The best they will be able to do is a draw. See, I was thinking, why do we lose at chess? Why do people get checkmated? Is it because they miscalculate? Maybe, but even Magnus sometimes loses against other grandmasters. Is it because they hang their pieces? Maybe, but once you get to the higher levels, people don't hang pieces anymore. Is it because they fall for tactics? Possibly, but higher-rated players don't fall for those either, and even they lose against other higher-rated players. So, what's going on? Why does everyone lose at chess? What does every game of chess have in common? And after spending two minu- I mean, a long time thinking, I finally have the answer. See, the reason you get checkmated all the time, is because of the King. Think about it. You only get checkmated because you have to defend your King. Most losses end in either checkmate or resignation, because your King is either in checkmate or about to be. The King is the one major thing that costs us our chess games and our rating points. Which is why I have developed a new strategy to almost never lose again. Before the game starts, simply remove your King from the board. Your opponent will happily agree, since the removal of your King will make your army weaker. However, in exchange for making your army weaker, you gain immortality. You can no longer be put in check, and most importantly, you can no longer be put in checkmate, as you have no King to checkmate. This is it. This is the strategy. Chess has been solved. No matter what your opponent does, they can never beat you. The only way you could really lose is by timeout or resignation. But in slower time controls, you're unstoppable. And as long as you just don't resign, you will win or draw every single chess game you play, no matter how good you are or who you're playing against. Even if they take all of your pieces, you'd just be stalemated. The game would just end in a draw. So during your next casual OTB game, try removing your King at the start, and never get checkmated again!

He hops around, promises me forks, but never follows through. I think he’s flirting with the enemy pawns. Should I start playing bishop-only games to teach him a lesson?

Rooks? Knights? Maybe pawns—like, “Why does this little guy turn into royalty halfway through?” Let’s see which piece breaks extraterrestrial brains first.
