That's all. If you are here for more you have to provide the content. In the meantime, if you have not already, would you consider joining the matches currently in registration.
You may not have given any thought to this portion of the Mission Statement since I restricted invitations to those who were within the limit. "Group eligibility is restricted to players who make moves efficiently and complete games without timing out excessively. This makes it more fun for your playing partner. To join the group a player's time per move average must be 5 hours 30 minutes or less and their timeout ratio must be 9% or less. If a group member's time per move average subsequently exceeds 6 hours per move or timeout percentage exceeds 15% that member will not be eligible to play." Would you disagree mightily with loosening the restriction. Perhaps "To join the group a player's time per move average must be 11 hours 30 minutes or less... If a group member's time per move average subsequently exceeds 12 hours per move ... that member will not be eligible to play." You may have noted we cannot play fair games against teams with players rated over 1800. With this looser restriction we may be able to recruit some higher rated players. The main goal of the group is fair matches. Would having slower team members affect you negatively?
The admin of The Chess Magic is reluctant to cut players. http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match.html?id=72883 danpen814 (1819) with thatgreenguy (1743) : Ratings Diff = 76 Artemi (1819) with TERRYHOLLIDAY (1597) : Ratings Diff = 222 ArmenianBishop (1809) with Jacob30 (1574) : Ratings Diff = 235 YOSUA_YOSY (1761) with LeeMinogue (1554) : Ratings Diff = 207 wonima (1752) with The_Rooky (1544) : Ratings Diff = 208 norolah54 (1630) with m_hawk13 (1423) : Ratings Diff = 207 marooned (1510) with AussieJohn48 (983) : Ratings Diff = 527 Averaging rating advantage per pairing for The Chess Magic = 1682/7 = 240 Options: 1 - Wait for three players in the 1700 to 1900 range register. (Not likely as there is only one current member in that range not already registered.) 2 - Cut everyone but thatgreenguy and lock. Send a new challenge with a rating max of 1650. Comments?
There was a small glitch in setting up our first match. The admin of the TIGRAN PETROSIAN CHESS GROUP accepted the open seek without reading the description. Once he became aware of the conditions he accepted the suggested pairings. http://www.chess.com/groups/team_match.html?id=71985 Three of the four pairings are basically even and with a first game win by cf4598, only 3.5 of 7 for the match win. But that's week or months away. The next match in line will be a "Close Match with Music Lovers". The admin Karl_ has been contacted and is on board. It has been a little difficult recruiting. No promises of puzzles, vote chess, more fun than you can handle. One way to get the group known is to play some matches so hopefully there are some who can take on two more games.
