http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/teams-warning-status kokino wrote : ( This is the list of teams under severe or repetitive warning on rules or timing failure. I am not looking for controversy nor to chase especific groups, it is simply that those teams in the list have showed a lack of respect for the rules and little interest in solving the situations in repetitive ROUNDS and with defined rules. When a team match is not issued and/or we try to communicate with the respective TL with no reply from their side I may understand: 1. They don't want to play in the WL anymore. 2. The Team Leaders representing that country are not competent enough for that position. (Maybe they don't understand the language or don't know how basic Chess.com features work) But what we cannot do from the WL organisation is to spend hours and hours chasing everyone. I am, and always be, available for any question and/or clarification of the rules or chess.com features... but the only thing we can ask in exchange is a really, really little co-operation in order to make the tournament possible. So, from TODAY I will implement this easy chart: GREEN: Teams in green. Regular status of teams playing and cooperating correctly. Acording to timing and rules No problem at all. Most of the teams are here. YELLOW: Teams in yellow. 1st. Warning for a severe rules or timing failing. You have been warned once. You should take inmediate actions in order to fix the problem causing that status and go back to green asap. ORANGE: Teams in orange. 2nd. Warning and not actions taken for the first warning. Or very repetitive failures. You should take all the actions in your hand in order to redirect the situation. You are under severe warning and no further mistakes will be allowed. RED: Teams in red. No corrective actions taken at all, and no solution possible with current contacts/ teams. Your team is not allowed to continue in the WL under the current conditions. Possible actions: - To change all the SAdmins/Admins in that group (with Chess.com staff support) - To define an alternative official Team replacing completely the previous one. UPDATED: 17/10/2009 RED STATUS ORANGE STATUS YELLOW STATUS GREEN STATUS All other teams Team New Zealand Team Iceland Team USA: Northeast THAILAND TEAM Team Armenia Team USA: SouthWest Team China 中国队 Team Germany Team Finland Grey Backgroud means illegal roster.)

Do you have what it takes to be the last wandering king standing? The Wandering King Opening - 1 f3?! e5 2 Kf2? d5 3 Kg3? This has actually been played a few times against respectable players on various internet chess servers. It isn't any good though! 1 f3?! e5 2. Kf2? d5 3 Kg3? Nf6 4 Kf2 (4 d4?? Black's lead in development, space advantage, and white's misplaced king should leave black almost winning. http://www.angelfire.com/nf/chess/Rubbish.html Barnes Opening or Gedult's Opening is a chess opening in which White opens with 1 f3 which is considered an irregular opening, so it is classified under the A00 code in the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings. The opening is named after Thomas Wilson Barnes (1825–1874), an English player who had an impressive eight wins over Paul Morphy, including one game in which Barnes answered 1 e4 with 1...f6, known as Barnes Defense. Of the twenty possible legal first moves, 1 f3 is considered to be the worst one. The move does attack a central square, e4, but if this is the summit of White's ambition in the centre, which it should not be, 1 d3 (the Mieses Opening) or even 1 Nc3 (the Dunst Opening) are better ways, although both of these opening moves are considered rather passive. 1 f3 does nothing for development, indeed it actually hinders White's development because it robs the knight of the f3 square. In addition 1 f3 weakens the king's position needlessly. Since 1 f3 is a poor move, it is not played often. Nonetheless, it is probably not the rarest opening move. Some players play this move, somewhat arrogantly, as a way of saying something like "I can play anything against you". After 1 f3 e5 some players even continue with the nonsensical 2 Kf2, which is sometimes called the Wandering King Opening, The Hammerschlag, or the Pork Chop Opening. One example of this was Simon Williams against Martin Simons in the last round of the British championship tournament in 1999 when Williams had nothing to play for. Refutation of 1 f3 is not an easy task. Black can easily secure an advantage by advancing his central pawns, grabbing control of the centre, and rapidly developing his pieces. However, converting this to a win is tougher, and in most games featuring 1 f3, White "wakes up" and starts playing sensibly after a few moves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnes_Opening Have fun and thanks for your participation!
