This is one of my first victories ever in a Rook + pawns endgame. After a long struggle, I reached the following position: I think it is quite instructive how the principle of two weaknesses ( a passed pawn on the queenside and a better Kingside pawns, conveniently supported) applied in this position, forcing the black rook to take care of the passed pawn while my king, taking advantadge of his hanging pawns, marched up the board to swap roles with the rook(the king helped the passer to promote while my rook was looking at his kingside pawn).

In a recent OTB club game, my team member had an ending of R+6 pawns vs R,B+2 pawns. It looked like a really interesting battle when my team-member had a 'moment' and left his R en-prise. Question is :- was this a win for the pawns. The position was more or less as in the diagram. Black had the more actively placed pieces. What does the panel think? Steve

Can anyone recommend a good reference on how to play Endgames with King, Rook, and Multiple Pawns?

Today, in a Blitz game, I found myself in this endgame: After some moves, we agreed on a draw. Do you think the Endgame was really a draw or maybe my opponent or I missed a winning line somewhere?

At least it was instructive for me. I played for this position only to discover too late that I was dead lost. This was an online "slow" game at 45 45 on ICC. The losing move appears to be Black's 30th, which was a natural looking move many, if not most, players would make. What do you think? http://blog.chess.com/Eternal_Patzer/instructive-endgame-loss
That is a really interesting game I played in Live chess recently. Unfortunately, due to the 5min / player time control, it was impossible to play properly. The whole game is interesting but the endgame (cf.title) deserves attention. I think White is winning here, but I would like your opinion about that endgame (...and what should be played after the timeout)

Two Pawns Up: Attack one pawn with the bishop while stopping the other from advancing. Otherwise, its no draw. Too far advanced:

Hi, I`m glad I`ve found this group. I`d like to share a strange position from a game I played not long ago. First, look at the diagram: It looks (at first sight only, I`d say) like White should win easily. I may be wrong but I think the position is drawish for there is no way (well, I see none) White could win without a Black`s mistake. I used no chess engine to analyse the position for I`d like to find out whether I am right or not without it. You could maybe help me out a bit. White would have to give up one of his pawns after 1...Ra5 And the position is drawish. Or is it not? Can you see a way White could win without Black`s mistake? I was lucky in the game for my opponent made a mistake - well, that`s what I believe. If you want to see how the game went on check the below diagram. It is the whole game (you will find some mistakes there but nice ideas and moves, too) and the position in question was achieved on move 42.
