Hi all - I have a question for those of you who have been members of the club for a long time. In the early 90s my husband bought our house from the Mechanics' Institute. The house was an estate gift from Josephine and Charles Linklater. Would anyone happen to have known Mr. Linklater? He must have been quite fond of the club. I would love to know more about him if anyone has any memory of him.

Hello dear chess players! My name is Arman and I am an undergraduate student majoring in Psychology, Physics, and Neurobiology at the University of California, Berkeley. I am conducting a study on mental speed as it relates to chess skill and experience, specifically by looking at chess ratings, time played, and Puzzle Rush scores. Studying mental speed in the context of chess can shed some light on how knowledge becomes internalized in the human mind.
