This a forum for MAGNUS CARLSEN in Team Scandinavia! You're welcome add more info about him and his games in this place!**** Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen (born 30 November 1990) is a Norwegian chess Grandmaster and chess prodigy who is currently the number-one ranked player in the world. His peak rating is 2848, the second highest in history (after Garry Kasparov's 2851 set July 1999 to January 2000). Carlsen was also the 2009 World blitz chess champion. Carlsen's performance at the 2012 London Chess Classic means that when January 2013 FIDE ratings are published, he will officially surpass Kasparov to be the highest rated player of all time. On 26 April 2004 Carlsen became a Grandmaster at the age of 13 years, 148 days, making him the third-youngest Grandmaster in history (and second-youngest at that time). His performance at the September–October 2009 Pearl Spring tournament has been described as one of the greatest in history and lifted him to an Elo rating of 2801, making him the fifth player to achieve a rating over 2800 – and aged 18 years, 336 days at the time, by far the youngest to do so. On 1 January 2010 a new FIDE rating list was published, and at the age of 19 years, 32 days, he became the youngest chess player in history to be ranked world number one, breaking the record previously held by Vladimir Kramnik, as well as the seventh player in history to be ranked number one in the world by FIDE. Based on his rating, Carlsen qualified for the Candidates Tournament that will determine the challenger to World Champion Viswanathan Anand in the World Chess Championship 2013. He also previously qualified for the 2011 Candidates Tournament, but withdrew from it.(Source: wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Carlsen )

Hi Admins all over Scandinavia. After discussions with Johan Palmaer I got the task to organize a tournament for the Scandinavian Administrators. The idea is to create an opportunity for us to try out our opponent administrators chess skills and in the same time get a chance to know some of poeple that work as hard as us to make it possible to have fun activities at chess.com. But also the most important isue is that there can only be one... After this tournament we will know who that administrator is. Invitations to the tournament will be sent in a few days. There are a limited number of players who can participate so the rule first to join gets the first chance applies. The tournament site to the Scandinavian Admins Tournament is: http://www.chess.com/tournament/scandinavian-admins-tournament

I would like to make discussion here, why the First Saturday chess tournaments are good or bad for the Scandinavians. Some ideas, why can be good for them: 1. In Hungary the sun shines better as in Scandinavia 2. Our hotel and food prices are cheaper then those of SCA, 3. We give you sich a GM-IM norm possibilities here as the SCA open tournament do not give. What is your opinion? Regards: mrfirstsaturday
