On June 29, 2024, the Oceanside Chess Club will be hosting the First Annual Oceanside Rapid tournament. The event will be held at the St. Marks Church, located 138 Hoylake Road West, Qualicum Beach. The format will be a 6-round unrated Swiss system. The time control will be 20 minutes with a 5 second increment. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the day. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the tournament will conclude at 5 p.m. with the awards ceremony. Prizes will be determined by attendance for the first, second, third, and best-performing junior (14 and under). Entrance is $20 per player. Hello guys! My name is Kyrylo Demchenko, I am an experienced chess coach, organizer and blogger. My title is Candidate Master. Is thre anybody in the Chilliwack area that would be interested in playing some OTB games?  From what I can tell, there is no chess club here but some people play at the local Java Hut on occasion.  I'd rather not go off to Java Hut without knowing there will be someone there to play against.

Is anyone here aware of any reputable chess coaches in the Fraser Valley area? If so, I would love to know who they are. Thanks medisforme
