When it comes to matches in chess, its really hard to find the best move when it comes to the instructive moments of the game because of complexity that your brain/self hasn't developed the pattern,
Tip 1: Always explain your moves
What I meant was, Talk to your self every time you made a move and think, like What is my Plan?, what does it do?, What it can achieve?, Does my opponent has a move to prevent it?
Tip 2: Practice every tactical patterns that is suitable for you to learn
Practice patterns/tactics that is not easy and hard, but not too hard that you get discouraged, do this for 10min+ depending on your energy, so when your winning, you don't miss a chance to CRUSH your opponents dream.
Tip 3: When you play your games, analyze it, so you can find you're weakness.
This is important, for finding weaknesses in your play, its either opening, tactical/positional middlegame, or endgame.
Tip 4-6: What plans do I need?
Being stuck brings you a bad feeling about your every performance, when your stuck analyze to find what's wrong about your play, the first is time killer, follow the 20-40-40 rule for time management, 20% in the opening, 40% in middlegame and 40% in the endgame, you better practice only FEW GOOD OPENINGS FOR BEGINNERS TO INTERMEDIATE ( recommended) and study them deeply, learn its every patterns, and chooses an opening where you can achieve anything you want in the opening (depending on your style of course) for the middlegame, always be on the look-out for any weaknesses that you and your opponent made in every move, and ask your self, Did he do that on purpose? What his plan to ignore that weakness? Does his threat really justifies the purpose of making that weakness? Evaluate the position, and find every best move for BOTH OF YOU. guess his plan while managing your time.
1.blitz every opening move you knew
2. If he/she plays an unknown opening, treat it like a blitz version of middlegame.
3. Look out for tactics
4. Guess your opponents plan
5. manage your time carefully
6. Do an extensive in-game analysis when your about to do a sacrifice.(NO ENGINE)
7. Learn endgame tricks
8. Watch RECAPS THAT HAS INSTRUCTIVE MOMENTS
9. Hire a coach if possible with higher ratings
10. Do not be lazy of making moves
11. Never under-estimate every THREAT
12. Be careful when your making sacrifices or they might backfire.
(not necessarily in order)
