Hi chess fans... we will once again be hosting a chess tournament over the holidays in Toronto! Prize fund is expected to exceed $5000 A note that the tournament is free for players new to Canadian tournaments. That includes both players new to tournament chess and any foreign rated players. Here are the details, preregistered lists will be posted up until the tournament date. January 4th, 5th, 6th (Fri, Sat, Sun) Great Hall, Main Floor, Hart House, University of Toronto 7 Hart House Circle, Toronto Style: 5 round Swiss in 4 sections: Open & U2200 (FIDE Rated), U1900 & U1600 Rounds: 6pm Friday, 10am & 4pm Saturday & Sunday. Time Control: All Rounds: For Open & U2200 Sections, 120 minutes total per player plus 30 seconds increment from start. 90/30 60/SD for U1900 & U1600. The Hart House Chess club will be hosting the Reading Week Open on the family day weekend in February again this year. The tournament will be 6 rounds, with 2 rounds each on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Team Toronto is playing in the World Cities League and sure could use more members and some entries for our match against Liverpool.

I think most of you already know about the chess.com meetup. I think there are only 2 vancouver groups so if you live near vancouver and is planning to join a group or is already in one please post your name and group.

You can get group points by: 1.Particapating in count to 1000 and doing puzzle of the week 1 point for 5 comments in count to 1000. Solving puzzle of the week and message me for that.(you can only solve it once) 2.Invite Canadian members to this group(message me for how many you invited) 1 point for each person who joins 3.Particapating in team matches and vote chess. 1 point for each team match or vote chess you join(message me to let me know) 4. You can redeem Group Points for (you can choose what you want by posting a comment here) you must have to have enough points to get the stuff you want. 1.A spot as admin(1 spot left) for 80 points(you have to make team matches and vote chess games against groups that have less then 200 members. 2.Recieve a trophy(for 30 points) 3.
