I recently got into a variation of chess that is called Shogi. You can find a decent site called playok.com that has the game with tradional Japanese pieces or western pieces.The game is similar to chess but has a few differences. 1. d4 is probably the most popular first move for white. It gives good chances for white in the game and it has a good percentage win for white. The first few moves for white are:

The Benoni is a very interesting way as a defence for black against 1.d4. Here are the first few moves. The game below is just the main line. For example when black played c5 white could have defended it.
