As I read somewhere else, sometimes it feels so good to brag. Let's post our memorable games. Don't restrict your choice to games with accurate play!

I have challenged our great founder and visionary ZucchiniMann to play a public game on a proper chessboard, i.e. with the h9-square. Since I won coin tossing I have the honour to play as White. We will post our moves in this forum. Comments and suggestions are more than welcomed. My first move: 1.c4

Botvinnik played here a very instructive game with a nice combination to crown it: White to move
I have shown this one elsewhere, but it is just too fantastic: a combination everybody should have seen once! White to move and win
This one shouldn't be too difficult: White to move

3 positions today. In my opinion, the last one is the less difficult. Black to move White to move Same players... White to move

The existence of the h9-square has huge consequences on the theory of chess. The first which comes to mind is the modification of mating patterns. How many games were unjustly won with a pseudo-backrank mate because nobody saw that the king could still go to h9? That's a complete new field to explore for arbiters. The whole chess history should be put under scrutiny. And then, we have patterns which have been ignored for so long. Here a first example: White to move and mate. Sorry if it looks messy. That's all the fault of chess.com: they seem to refuse the existence of h9 and don't give any technical help for diagrams including that square, I had to create it myself. Next diagram look better :)

I have a lot of tactics collected from different sources. Now and then, you'll see a position to solve in that forum. As often as possible, I'll give you the entire game, i.e. you'll be able to see the whole game after solving the problem [click on "move list" and you'll have more details]. There is a drawback: positions where it is black's turn to play might appear from white's point of view. Sometimes, I'll submit a variation which did not occur in the original game Here, the first position: Black to move and win

All the chess lovers know the former Czech GM Jára Cimrman. Even a minor planet (called an asteroid by some), two scorpions (Heterometrus Cimrmani - the fourth one on the page, Parabuthus Cimrmani - again the fourth one), and a parasite (Isospora Jaracimrmani) were named after him. His geniality helped him to get to the top class of Chess-players. He was the only one who could make an unshakeable Chess-master such as Cappablanca uncertain. He threatened him by his simultaneous play in Madrid with a double check. The player was so shocked that he announced a move to G12. Cappablanca`s move is widely misinterpreted in chess literature (a part of the conspiracy - of course) as the first chess "out". Newly discovered diaries of Cappablanca cast light on his extraordinary move: I knew my game with Jara Cimrman in Madrid was lost after his double check. Consequently, I wanted to use our to-be-much-analysed game to expose the h-9 conspiracy. I believed chess experts, players and fans would wonder why I moved my piece to the 12th row and ask:"is there a 12th row?" They would start from square one, i.e. row 9 here and find the truth about h-9 square. If you happen to be one of few people who have never heard of GM Jara Cimrman, please read the following links ... The First Serious Blog About the Czech Da Vinci Exhibition Jára Cimrman

Hi, the following guidelines are copied from those posted in the 1. b3 group. Vote Chess (a few suggestions) If you have joined our vote chess games then we welcome you. We appreciate your interest and participation. Our method of play is to always try to find the best move and we owe our success to our teamwork and to the spirit of friendly and respectful cooperation which exists within our group. We believe that is the path by which we can find and play the best move. We are friendly. We have fun. We stay focused on the game. The group admins function as game moderators, overseeing the activities and patting people down for weapons. But we are also participating members like everyone else. We do not officially designate individuals as Team Captains, Coaches or Water Boys but we all know who they are. In order to find the best move and to play the best move there are a few guidelines which we follow. These have been gleaned from the pains of experience and most of them should not be thought of as rules. They are just good ideas. We cannot enforce rules. However there are some guidelines infractions for which a person might find themselves removed from the group. Those would deal with one member's behavior towards another member. Our games typically allow two or three days for us to make a move. The first 24 hrs is for submission and suggesting of moves, plans and strategies and for the subsequent discussion, evaluation and appraisal of those candidates by the members of the team. Votes are far more effective when cast during the final 24 hrs. If, for personal reasons, you find you must vote early, there is nothing to prevent you from doing so. However, please do not encourage others to vote early. We strive to reach a consensus through discussion and vote together as a team. At times there may be two or more moves which are roughly equal but which lead to different strategies. In those circumstances an "Open Vote" may be declared and the votes will decide it. In these cases it is important to remember we are not competing with each other. Personal attacks on team mates will not be tolerated. When the clock reads <24 hrs, someone will usually post the current votes. That comment will trigger a [new comment alert] which will appear on your home page and will serve as a reminder that it is now time to review the analysis and cast your vote. When joining a new vote game don't forget to tick [x] Notify me of new comments near the bottom of the page. This will ensure that you will receive an alert when it is our turn to move and it will also enable the [new comment alert] mentioned above. If you submit a comment in the discussion forum at any time, that action will automatically enable alerts for the remainder of that game. Each of our vote games is a team effort. Please do not treat it as your personal game. Please do not vote for moves which are not mentioned in the discussion forum. If you have a good move then tell us about it in a comment so the team will have the opportunity to give it fair consideration. It is not necessary to explain why you think it is a good move but of course that is helpful. If you see a foolish move or blunder being suggested by team mate please be courteous and respectful in your appraisal of the move. Let us analyse the moves - not the people who suggest them. Chess engines are not allowed in normal vote chess games. Referencing archived computer analysis is also not allowed. Please refrain from mentioning computer analysis in our vote chess forums. If you get madand decide to quit the game or if you accidentally click on [Leave Game] you will see a pop-up which will give you a second chance to stay with the game (suggested). If you still decide to quit that action is irreversible. Please respect your team mates and keep the language clean. Enjoy the games! ------------ This is a work in progress. More (good ideas) to come. If you have a suggestion or a question please submit it below. Or you can send me a message.
