Hi everyone,
I am writing this forum post just to list out the potential ways you can be SA (Super Admin), A (Admin), or C (Coordinator) you want to be promoted by TheRateClimber (other SA’s don’t have to follow the same guidelines as I do):
SA:
1. If anyone would like to partner with me, meaning that you promote me to SA in one of the clubs that you own first (you have to have at least one club that you own: the size of that club should match the size of this one, but it doesn’t have to if you also satisfy partially #2), and you will have SA in this club in return (usually only a couple minutes in delay, but if it’s longer than that, then don’t make me SA yet in your club if you care about immediate return). I added the “first” in bold because you have to show me that you actually want to partner. Also, I am also adding a requirement that you have to advertise my club in your club in some way that works for your club, and I will do the same for your club in my club (there’s been a person that requested to partner with me, but didn’t make me SA until a very long time). Lastly, if you have something similar to a partner list, then you have to add my club to that partner list. This rule only applies if you are requesting me to partner with you. If it’s the other way around, then I will follow your rules for partnering.
2. Anyone that happens to be very active when I am online, and can play chess with me often will also get SA. Or, contribute to this club a lot (e.g. organizing tournaments, giving this club a background - haven’t had one since the creation of this club). But, all club modifications with the exception of tournaments/anything else that doesn’t have a permanent effect on the club’s overall appearance (for both members/non-members) have to be approved by me. That means anything that has to do with club descriptions/profile/title, the club sidebar, any post/announcement that relates to how this club operates like this very announcement (to list a few) have to be approved by me. Please ask me first, if you are unsure before doing something as SA. Do it if you are absolutely sure the action you are doing to this club is necessary or urgent (like demotion of a “bad” user). It’s completely fine if you make a mistake as SA and do something that I would not like, as long as it is not intentional and the result of that action is minor.
3. If you can find at least one chess.com user that can contribute to this club/or can be a really good friend, then you can also get SA; This does not mean just inviting one random user to this club; That user also has to have quality. I would rather have one very active user than 500 inactive accounts to exaggerate. Or that user could simply just be you (in that case then #2 applies).
I am very flexible, so anyone that wants to be SA (and actually do something with the SA) can request being SA. Now, that doesn’t mean I will automatically accept any request, but you have to give me something in return like a SA position in your club, playing chess with me whenever I am online and want to, or any specific request that I have for any individual users specifically depending on what they can offer me (like putting me on their “favorite friends list” in their profile viewed by lots of accounts or something like that).
A:
These positions are for friends who used to hang out with me a lot from the past on chess.com, but not really any more. This role really serves as a legacy (memories I associate with the specific user/their profile picture from the past, and will never really be demoted). These positions are also for people who can invite more people to the club. If you invite a lot of people that are relatively active (and they join without leaving in a few days, then you can get promoted to SA).
C:
Anyone can apply for it, and potentially be promoted from this role to SA if you are a really good friend.
Now here are the demotion rules (for me)
Demotion from SA, remember:
Your account will only be demoted if I think that you are not using this account anymore. And you can request anytime to get your SA position back. I will always accept it. However, for clubs specifically, if you had demoted me in your club in the past, then you have to promote me back, or find another way to be a really good friend.
Demotion from C, remember:
You can reapply for this role as many times as you wish. I will only demote users with this role if I think that they are not using their accounts anymore.
Kicking/Banning:Currently only “Kicking/Banning” Already-Closed/Taken Down Accounts. However if some user makes anyone feel uncomfortable, then I will kick that user from the club for the first few times, and then ban them if they keep coming back, but so far that rarely happens if there are any at all.
I ultimately get to decide if someone gets SA, A, or C with the exception that if you are a really good friend with a SA and want to be promoted through them, then I will allow promotions through them (they don’t have to follow the guidelines that I use, so that means they are free to promote anyone to any roles, even A’s) because I value the saying of “the friend of my friend is my friend”. However, if that friend of a friend has lost my trust, then I will demote them or even kick/ban them with potential consequences to the SA that promoted them if they keep on promoting “bad” users.
Fun fact: I often see “SA” being used for Super Admins, but I never see “A” being used for Admins or “C” being used for Coordinators. I just made them up for consistency/convenience.
Any of these rules can be changed at any time.
Please let me know (either by DM or comment down below) if you have any questions/suggestions/concerns for this announcement or club or anything in general.
