Oh, sorry. I thought you were talking about chess pieces. Not board pieces.meh.png

lol don't worry! My message was a bit confusing.
I thought about those board square designs and had been willing to check it out.
Now the practical way to build these would be the challenge indeed.

I can make it with clay,

Clay is a good idea, especially if you have access to a kiln. You can bake the pieces and add an enamel coating. Here's some examples. The piece at the right is a replica of the "sage" which was used a long time ago, and moves the same as the guard.

Btw, I took the wood pieces and combined them with standard chess pieces. Here's the full set of the white pieces for bulldog chess (with guard and witch). They are shown on a 10x10 board. (But the board should be 10x8).

No, I'm not talking about that clay.

I'm talking about modeling clay. Not hard, but soft. The one I'm talking about doesn't break apart when dropped.

Should I start making other 3D pieces for the 2D digital boards?

Avatar of 2Nf31-0

Yes. Please do that.

We can have that as our new bulldog chess theme board.

Ok. I'll start with all white pieces then make black. I'll post a picture of every white piece when I'm done.

Then, make a 3D board. And then we can play with it?

I tried making a 3D chess board on Paint 3D. You should have it already installed if you are using Microsoft Windows. I think it's better than Paint just because it's a newer version, but the same thing.

I mostly just make 3D objects there, but I don't know how to post a file.

I found out that chess boards other than 8x8 are not very easy to find. House of Staunton makes a high quality 10x8 board, but it was about $900 which is way too much for me. I checked other websites, and found someone selling an old 10x10 board for draughts (some checkers is played on 10x10 apparently). The board is not in perfect condition, but my pieces aren't perfect either so it's a good match.

Thanks for the comments. I'll keep going to finish the black pieces.happy.png

Ok, that should work too. If you come up with interesting designs I hope you show some pics.happy.png

I don't use paint or paint 3D. I used Adobe Photoshop Sketch

Black Guard. How is it? What piece should I do Next?

You are good at drawing! Try making all chess pieces and even make a 3d board!

You can then draw the board on the chess pieces.

That board looks like a good value. The only thing I don't like is the company logo right on one of the squares. But it's a very nice board, and if I need one I think it's the best option. For now I have a 10x10 board. I'll block two ranks so I can use it for 10x8 chess games. Thanks for the link.happy.png
