Before starting, can I suggest that we do pawn promotion on the 9th rank instead of the 8th rank?
In 4-player FFA pawn promotions are on the 8th rank, but then it is one step across the middle of the board. In this variant that would be the 9th rank if we want to cross the middle to promote.
This is a 4-player free for all bulldog with witch and guard game.
The players are @JustARandomPatzer (silver), @PandasAwesome (blue), @MISTER_McCHESS (red) and @haoming09 (green)
The game will follow the correspondence rules posted here.
Time Control: 3 days/move
Timeout Warnings: 24 hours to make a move after a warning. Maximum 3 warnings. Refreshes every 40th move
Vacation Time: 14 days. Refreshes every 40th move.
Unrated: This game does not count towards ratings.
Communication: It is prohibited to suggest moves and/or coordinate attacks using chat (or other means of communication).
Goal: The game ends when 3 players are eliminated. The winner is the player with the most points.
Piece Values: Whenever a piece is captured the player that captured the piece gets points equal to its value. The value of the pieces are:
Pawn: 1
Knight: 3
Guard: 3
Bishop: 5
Rook: 5
Witch: 7
Queen: 9
You do not get points if you capture dead (gray) pieces.
Checkmate: Checkmate can happen after any players move. If the checkmated king is in check and its owner has no move to get out of check, then it is checkmate even if it is not that players move.
The player who made the move resulting in checkmate gets 20 points (even if the check is delivered by another player). The checkmated player is eliminated and his pieces become dead (gray).
Resignation/timeout: When a player resigns or times out, their army will become dead (gray) but their King remains "live" and will continue to move at random until checkmated or stalemated.
Stalemate: Stalemate can only happen when the stalemated players turn is reached. If the stalemated player was alive, then the stalemated player gets 20 points. If the stalemated player was eliminated the points are shared among the remaining players.
Double Check: If a player checks 2 enemy kings simultaneously (by the piece that moved or through discovered check), then that player gets 1 point if it was done by a queen, otherwise 5 points.
Triple Check: If a player checks 3 enemy kings simultaneously (by the piece that moved or through discovered check), then that player gets 5 point if it was done by a queen, otherwise 20 points.
Move order: The order of moves is clockwise: silver -> blue -> red -> green.
Promotion: Pawns promote on the 9th rank and can promote to guard and witch in addition to queen, rook, bishop or knight.
En Passant: En passant is allowed.
Castling: The rules of castling are similar as in classical chess. However the king travels three squares rather than two. The rook finishes adjacent to the king. All squares between the king and rook must be unoccupied, with the exception of transparent pieces (see witch rules).
Pieces:
Guard (G) - Moves and captures like a king.
Witch (W) - The rules for the witch can be found here.
Other rules of this game are identical with rules of classical chess.
Good luck!
