Just hit 1900 Rapid!
Here's the game that got me there:
After 4 months of being in the 1700-1800s, I have finally broken this milestone! Thank you Improvers for helping me achieve this goal!
I'll be now working as hard as ever to get 2000.

I'm celebrating three consecutive months of playing a Rapid game every day! Holding on to 1000 has been a struggle, but I'm still here. After a couple of losses on time, I made the switch from 10 minutes to 15+10, which has been a game changer. Endgame study has also been particularly productive right now.
As for the second half of my New Year's resolution, studying openings, I've settled on the Scotch as White and the Sicilian as Black vs. e4. D4 has been more of a challenge. At my level, I face a lot more systems than I do Queen's Gambits.
Reached 1800 Blitz ![]()
Having gone just short of 1900 rapid last month (peak 1895) hopefully another milestone just on the horizon!
Hey @everyone How is the grind? I am back with an important ANNOUNCEMENT
Nice. I had a similar experience after crossing 1900 and then got down to 1750. Now I stabilized around 1850. I noticed my games are mostly decided by simple tactics, as everyone is good at converting now, so I am working on detecting those.
In preparation for an upcoming OTB tournament, I've been playing at least 2 rapid games a day this week and managed to gain 60 rating points and break 2100 for the first time! What I've come to realise is, that a lot of people in this rating range still aren't aware of many opening ideas, so as long as you know your stuff well, paired with good positional understanding (I won most games by exploiting my opponent's weaknesses, which led to them succumbing to the pressure) you can climb a lot!
Hey guys!
I crossed 2000 rapid for the first time, with a fantastic game.
What prevented me from breaking 2000 was not particularly my chess knowledge but my own conduct in the games. I used to play impatiently after opening, throwing wins by being careless and resigning too early. I had also given up twice this year.
Watching Sagar Shah (ChessBase India) comment on tournament games unlocked in me a new understanding about the game, the way grandmasters think:
You can see these things happening in all grandmaster games(up until World Champion level). I have added a couple of games that inspired me
Ding Liren vs Gukesh - Power of center, development and forward moves
https://youtu.be/-aYnrKI3hE0?si=xjrAtbbRvJ4hFCPY
Nihal Sarin vs Zhu Jiner - Great display of patience to convert an advantage

Watching grandmasters struggling, being clueless and losing to such straighforward chess proved to me how strong these basic ideas are.
I completely forgot to mention that I hit 1800 rapid a few days ago! I started the year at 1700, so I'm halfway there to my 1st rapid goal, 1900! I feel like I'm playing a lot better now and I've started to play more and watch some content so that I can learn whilst having fun! Can't wait to get to 1900 and onwards to my other rapid goal, 2050!
Also got 600 in bullet
