@Spacebux is reporting in https://www.chess.com/forum/view/suggestions/express-if-you-like-or-do-not-like-the-new-version-of-the-site?page=251 that the Android app has the analysis options on by default ("Show Threats", "Show Blunders", "Show Best Moves") and that this is therefore encouraging people to use the analysis during a Live Chess game.

I don't have an Android device myself to verify this, so I thought I would ask about it here.

In my Android app, whenever I go to self analyse a finished game, it shows the position's evaluation and then one engine line, by default.

I think he seems to be complaining about the obligatoriness of seeing the engine's point of view.

Wind

This is an ongoing game, seen in analysis mode.

I don't see any engine support here, neither any options to activate such.

When you're playing against the computer, we used to have the computer coaching turned on by default. For the next release (3.6) it will be turned off by default instead.

Seems folly to have all App users (I assume this is the same policy with the iPad/iPhone App as well) equipped with:

  • Show Blunders
  • Show Best Moves
  • Show Threats

    ... as well as -

  • Live Analysis

Being able to use a computer to play a computer -- how is that helping anyone become a better chess player?   Were you issued the answers prior to taking your Chemistry Final in high school?  Was the teacher standing above your desk shaking his/her head everytime you attempted to pencil-fill in the wrong oval?

I have some serious issues with how this was all 'rationalised' on your end.
