All bedrock really has is a crappy marketplace where you can't really actually buy mods for you own use and a few features that don't really do much.

Just a few things you can do on JE for free:
- Customize your own skin, or download one online
- Design your own custom resource pack, or download one
- Download mods (I use a number of performance mods to make the game faster)
- Download datapacks (basically just mods, but simpler)

Bedrock edition and Java edition have there differences but all in all I think the Java community has more followers
