Blindfold Chess Tournaments?

I think it could be an extremely cool variant in chess, and it seems like a good idea. It's better as 1 minute - 3 minute controls as cheating could happen through usage of an actual board.

What do you guys think?

Not tournaments but making it exist as a variant in live chess is an excellent idea!

Which blindfold chess? The one where you can't see the board or where you can see only your pieces (which isn't actually blindfold chess but commonly called that)? I would like to see both.

you can see the board without pieces

so blindfold, where neither play sees where the pieces are.

They can use memory skills... but yes, they just cant "see" their pieces

would you just type the notation of the peice to move then?

I never played well at blindfold. I've tried but I end up playing like a toddler. LOL

Speech interface would be cool. If you want to keep eyes closed.

But the only problem in Blindfold chess online is that anyone can cheat by putting up an actual board beside them.

Perhaps to avoid cheating like this we could see each other through a video and audio means and naturally understand whether the person is cheating or not.

It can be unrated too. What about playing only against computers? of course they can't cheat.

Exactly! i always try unrated blindfold with computers

I mean, against computers it can be rated. And unrated against other humans!

It could be a first try, else we may never move on it.
