agreed. how about a blindfold variant? in live chess? ![]()
Blindfold suggestion
That would be fun too, but it'd be nice if you could toggle it if you want to be the only one playing blind, and in order to practice it against the computer. Basically an easier method to toggle it on and off without changing the piece design in the board settings.
For blind chess I would like an option that speaks the moves (last move or all the moves at a certain pace). Maybe it would also need a speech recognition function.
That would be nice for vision impaired people too. (I think this was discussed before.)
That's a neat idea as well, it doesn't really need speech recognition, it needs the name of all pieces, so that's 6, 8 letters, 8 numbers, and words like "to", "takes", "promotes", "check", "mate", "stalemate" if I'm not missing anything, so 28 recordings that can be strung together.
edit: I'm dumb, you mean speech recognition as input, right? Maybe typing the moves could work as well or be compatible with the standard voice recognition the modern OS have already preinstalled
You may prefer to really keep eyes shut and not having to touch the keyboard to lose concentration. But I admit someone else could type for you.
Windows has a voice typing thingy, I'd guess Mac has it too, so you could say the moves and the OS would type it, then the chess interface would just have to convert it to a move and let the OS would take over the voice recognition since it's built in anyways
And maybe different levels of blindfoldedness? The normal one we know now, maybe one where you can't see your pieces but you can see your opponent's ones, and one where you know the location of all the pieces, you just don't know which ones they are (I sometimes do that one OTB with checker pieces when training)

I've seen there is a chess set that makes the pieces invisible. I'd like to suggest for it to be an option from within the board settings. Among the options like sounds, rightclick arrows, white always on the bottom, etc. So a toggle that can be switched on off, without changing the theme and also available for when playing against the computer.
