I might have missed one or both tactics in-game. Knowing there's a tactic to be found makes it easier.
The materials are equal until it reach N+Ps and b+ps.

Yeah, although after the game is over you have lots of options - engine, endgame tablebase, etc.
Endgame Table base requires an Excellent memory. In the database technique, you gain pattern recognition.
Yesterday, I watched a brilliant game of Ethereal against Rubi. 33. Rxb7!!! is Amazing.
