It won't be perfect black I guess, the black pieces then would blend in if it's perfect black

Well, the white pieces don't blend in with the white checkers. So, I don't think that would be a problem.

That's because they aren't same shade of white, that's what I'm saying for black. If it isn't the same shade of black, it might look good

For a long time I've been recommending to introduce custom colors for light and dark squares - - I can't believe this can be difficult feature to implement.

if you played with 3D pieces then you would be able to have completely black and completely wide, if the background perhaps was shaded even.

I made a forum requesting this in the past and it got hardly any support. What's changed peoples minds?
Maybe all their other wishes came true?

lol yeah maybe but I don't really care about the colour of the board and any ways the tournaments I play in always have white and green squares on the boards so it is perfectly fine to me the way it is

Honestly, black and white doesn't work that well for web environment with black and white pieces. it doesn't show up that well.
However, if you want you can create one by using the overlay color for your board and then setting your background to be black.
still wont fix, JD. The brightness of the white squares wont be a match for the white background that covers this text.

I concur -- I tried every combination of custom background with overlay and translucent boards, to no avail. The application clearly has the best appearance and themes compared to others (e.g. lichess) and it's time to make it look even better. I suggest custom colors for light squares and dark squares -- I don't know of any app out there that allows for this level of customization (it would be completely awesome).

YES!!!!
And if they're not willing to add this, at least add a black/dark gray board.
