there's a filter on "Past Events" so you can choose to see Vote Chess games only (completed ones), but there's no similar filter on "Current Events" which would allow seeing running Vote Chess games only. Can such a filter be added?

It's coming. Just need some time.

Workflow to create two or three league matches with the following parameters:

  • Match name: 1WL 2023 U1600-12 R9
  • max. rating: 1600
  • min. players: 11
  • max. players: 12
  • start date: Sept. 24
  • start time: 09:00 (if CEST)

with the previous club design (18 steps for two challenges / 25 steps if three)

  1. Open "chess.com/clubs/match_challenge"
  2. Fill in challenging club
  3. Fill in challenged club
  4. Add "1WL ... R9" to the match name
  5. Fill in max. rating
  6. Fill in min. players
  7. Fill in max. players
  8. Select start date
  9. Fill in start time
  10. Create challenge
  11. Verify parameters

For the second challenge

  1. Step back to previous page
  2. Modify challenging club
  3. Modify challenged club
  4. Add "1WL ... R9" to the match name
  5. Select start date
  6. Create challenge
  7. Verify parameters

with the modified club design (30 steps for two matches / 45 steps if three)

  1. Go to opponents start page
  2. Click Challenge button
  3. Select Daily match
  4. Click Challenge button
  5. Fill in challenging club
  6. Add "1WL ... R9" to the match name
  7. Type names of challenging and challenged club
  8. Fill in max. rating
  9. Fill in min. players
  10. Fill in max. players
  11. Select start date
  12. Fill in start time
  13. Unselect auto-start
  14. Create challenge
  15. Verify parameters

For the second challenge: Start from scratch.

Could someone please explain the advantage of these additional steps (selecting daily match, confirmation of selection, filling in club names, unselecting auto-start) in the new challenging procedure to us? What exactly is the advantage of suppressing access to a previous challenge and its parameters?

We intend to remember your last challenge settings so that when you visit the challenge page again, everything will be filled with your last challenge settings which should save you quite a few of these steps.

We will again auto populate late of the event as before.

Additionally, intend to have the option for reoccurring events for at least some event types so that you can entirely skip having to create weekly arenas for example.

Half points are still not showing in latest scores and results. ALSO , in current matches ( events ) it shows “players “ as the amount of members who registered, not the number per side the match actually is. So a match that is ten a side might say “ players 68 for example. This makes it hard to see at a glance how the match is progressing , and if we are approaching the finish line. The players registered number has absolutely no relevance to the match once it starts , and we used to see the percentage of completion for the match , which was very useful. ALSO, in upcoming matches ( events ) we need to see at a glance , how many players the opponents have registered. This is essential to know whether we need to get more players to join , so as to match or better their player numbers.

The previous way opened matches were displayed was very good: easy to read with all relevant information.

The big sun for daily match is less relevant than the logo of the opposing team for instance, and the overall information is presented in a way which is less readable.

That's great to know: It does not explain, why clubs' reality becomes worser – like in this example for match challenges – while announcing a sunny future?

More general: During 2023 we've faced a lot of deteriorations for clubs, their admins and leagues. Some of the most active and reliable club admins have already resigned.

End of may situation was as bad, that e.g. ONE WORLD League decided to stop starting new tournaments (normally we would have had seen starting six more of our annual tournaments until the end of the year), as conditions for competitions aren't fair and healthy anymore.

Today's situation is worser than it was three months ago, as club redesign has added a list of still 18 additional difficulties for club members, club admins and leagues (see comment #2 here), while introducing only very few ameliorations.

We should see at least five of our main problems addressed with club redesign: Max. reliable notifications, additional tools for club communication (incl. app users), completing Multi Club Arena code, fixing several vote chess problems and reinstalling customizable players' start pages. Until now none of them is part of the project.

10 weeks after the State of Chess.com show we're still without an answer from Danny Rensch about all these difficulties Chess.com is causing for clubs, their admins and leagues.

It is certainly more difficult now than it was before this software came in. And I’m not sure what enhancements we have gotten out of it. It’s nice to see the problems fixed but why they there in the first place. This last 2 weeks has been my least enjoyable time at this site in my five or so years here. I have spent my time reporting problems and working out how to work around problems instead of playing chess and managing clubs.

I know there is no point in complaining. It’s very obvious this was no choice for us. And even now I don’t like the main club page. The site is lucky that club managers are very dedicated and will put up with a lot.

That isn't the case for one of them.

Notifications and Homepage options aren't part of clubs. The club communication changes that have been mentioned, while related, was something decided on after the redesign was available in beta.

Chess.com is causing relevant problems for clubs, their admins and leagues since a long time. It's not so important how many different projects Chess.com needs to address them: It's more important to see finally some amelioration.

Notifications for club events are managed by club design: If they aren't reliable, something must be wrong there. Homepages are members' bridges to clubs, which have been destroyed already months ago and need urgently being rebuilt.

Working for seven months on a club redesign without addressing any of their most relevant problems, simply shows a lack of precise input, correct orientation and right decisions.

Please step back to comment #873: What about answers to other parts ...?
Will someone remind Danny Rensch about his still missing answer on clubs' situation?

Fun fact: Club redesign isn't part of Chess.com's September Update article: https://www.chess.com/article/view/chesscom-update-september-2023

Any idea, what might be wrong with celebrating, presenting and explaining finally introduce new club features?

Perhaps we should guess, if Danny Rensch will include club redesign and our situation in his next show, ... this time by his own initiative?

Items are added to that release when they are considered done. Not considering clubs as done at the moment.

As redesign has been released on August 31, everyone now has to deal with. Should be a good moment to celebrate, present and explain its new club features, shouldn't it?

It's at least imaginable, that some general information could be useful to understand, why this happens to us ... in addition to already existing other severe problems.

And: You're right, clubs aren't done yet. Many of them are surprisingly resilient. Only some first well known ones of our clubs are irreversible suffering, already abandoned or nearly knocked out.

Well, the issue with muting club admins is addressed wink.png

Fair Play stats for August:

93,700 mute actions

82,800 accounts muted

Until now: No update today. As weekend is in sight, around and about club redesign probably the only good news this week are having the "Highest Ratings" daily chess list back and seeing club events shown public again. That's not very much and surely not enough.

After ten weeks of "post development process" club redesign still provides a long list of newly introduced difficulties (18) and just very few introduced advantages (5).

  • Still can't see a few new features: After seven months one should assume seeing several.
  • Still don't see any of our major problems addressed ..., which should be solved already.
  • Still don't get answers to general questions ...: What went when wrong with this project?

I’ve pointed out quite a few faults and nobody has acknowledged them , let alone fix them.

I know at least one of the things you've recently mentioned again has been ticketed. Asking about the other since I didn't find a ticket.

Thanks.

Ticketing an item doesn't seem to rapidly change the current situation. It seems to me that the head developer should join an actual playing Club and try it for a week in the old version and then try it for a week in the new version and see if first hand experience can open their eyes to what is wrong.🤔🔬👨‍💻

The developers fix code based on the details in the ticket and if something is unclear, they'll get more information from the project manager. They're not making arbitrary code changes.

Perhaps the project manager and the developers should read through this forum to get a better idea of what the problems are.

Individual ticketing is kind of like patching holes in a road that has a hundred potholes, it's never going to be like a newly paved road that way. And if you use asphalt rather than concrete, you're going to get a faster deterioration of the road. Granted, concrete cost more money, but in the long run, it's a smoother ride for all the drivers on the road.

Like sorting members by rating in clubs. That took a long time to convince here that it was useful and we need it by daily rating order and the first fix was wrong. Some of them weren’t even sorted. Do they test?? Doesn’t take Einstein to see some of those members were not sorted at all.
Now we have events being able to be seen in all clubs . But those in join not in my rating range in other clubs are invisible still. Needs another fix. Was it tested? Seems like we are doing the testing.
