I figured out what is happening. You don't have to switch boards.
If you view a comment page that has embedded boards in the comments, the puzzle is inheriting the embedded board's coloring for the numbers.

For example, I did today's puzzle, then went to a comment page, scrolled down to the comments with the following embedded board
and got this after scrolling back up.

Ooh that makes sense, thanks a lot for looking into this, I've been wondering what this was.
So a while back I reported this here, but after that, I never really saw it again.
Until, a minute ago when I was doing yesterday's daily puzzle.
They were green and white
I also got blue and white sometimes
But now, I found out how to reproduce it.
Step 1:
Click here and change your board theme to Dash, which is what I have on when I see this bug
Step 2:
Click here to go to Friday's daily puzzle
Step 3:
Click the Comments button
Step 4:
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Last" to go to the last page of comments
Step 5:
Scroll back up to the puzzle
And after that, my coordinates were green and white (If I skipped step 3 sometimes I got blue and white instead)
