How does he have this!?
Highest Rated Player Ever!?
Yes, many people like to type their rating as really high. It's harmless, just look at the stats to see how strong they are.
that's not chess.com,
It's USCF that the OP is talking about, check the rating of the player ranked first, or maybe better I just show it to you: 1 | MAGNUS CARLSEN | 15218438 / R: 2970P10->3001P16
Its editable in your own profile, max is 3000, what's up with that website?
You don't know what is uschess.org?
All chess.com members have access to editing their FIDE rating, there's no need to providing a link to another website to verify. It's not possible to have 3001 as a member's rating here, maximum is 3000. That's my point.

You probably don’t understand the question.

Well there's a hell more people with the 3000 rating, it isnt really second highest ![]()

They all share first place so that means I am second.
It's a pity because the Federations OTB are mostly the only "sanity check" that people turn to when nervous about "online scurrilous activities".
I've kept my game up, but I'm hoping to do some more OTB for the first time in years and with the general filtering of various tech and opportunities, "the next two generations" of players after me are "better than we were".
I FINALLY got confirmation of this in a book by a trainer that said as much, that "I'm not crazy". His suggestion was to think the "implicit" strength increase was a hair over a hundred, so I'll call it +125ish points - "Today's 1625's are my era's 1750's."
Fortunately, unlike the online sites, they have floors, though it's still a big range, but for example if you can somehow squeak 1700 on a brilliant streak, it should mean you can't drop below something like 1500, so even with the next 7 games going like when one is a blitz opening, one is a Benko you just didn't study, one you just wrecked, 1 win, 1 is just typical ballistic King's Gambit mayhem gone wrong, one is someone borrowing a Hedgehog a tempo down but just doesn't drop material, and your wildcard, in an OTB career, you won't be 1400 ever again.
So we know online ratings are a "mess" because of course barring Shenanigans, there's Talent, but that Patience Factor kills, and I specifically had a 2100 tell me once we were almost dead heat for the middlegame but he banked hard on his endgames as his side of the specialty and ... won.
So people making up *Federation ratings* will just collapse on them eventually.
