I recently lost a game, and according to the game report even though I committed numerous blunders and mistakes errors etc I still achieved over 88% my opponent same level achieved over 89%, how can this be

pretty accurate. except when you troll

For example, I was playing a friend and checkmated with 5 knights, and because of all the moves i needed to promote to the knights that weren't "best moves" I got 44% accuracy

Accuracy is an obscure statistic which somehow reflects how closely your play agrees with that of some engine, which is presumed (not always justifiably) to be best play.

It definitely not justified in my game

I trolled the opponent the same way, my score was 8.3. I still won. Accuracy is relative to the engine, so you can win with no relevance to the engine as I did.

If I recall playing at an 88/89 score correlates with like a 1800 player so it would not be at all uncommon to find many mistakes and such a game at that level.

  • Ah but im only  a mid 1200 player so it seems pretty weird

Depending on the length of the game, a long game with a simple end game can create a game with an overall high percentage of excellent moves, as the end game almost plays itself, which can lead to a higher CAPS.

But you don't play every game at that level. Likely you play some games above and some games below.

I was defeated some 3 or 4 opportunities ... where my opponents got 98.7; 98.9 and 97.9 of hits compared to the best computer movement!and the ELOs were very low on two of them ... and a very well padded
