I have been having the same issue as the OP, when working with images in group news.
I think also the OP has been talking about this problem to be existing for news posts.
my images and text are always automatically align left in Firefox. I don't see any way to change the alignment. I can't reproduce Erik's post.

I use Firefox as well. Seems like there are some stuff not working yet on Firefox.
I've always been unable to left-align text after inserting a game diagram.

Well, in the above two examples -with the girl - Firefox and Chrome look identical.

So, oddly, if I "paste" in an image, it goes left. If I UPLOAD an image, it goes center!

Regarding Firefox - Firefox 52.0 just came out for 64-bit.
Many people use auto-updating for that and everything. Not I.
In fact - I will actually download the exe for that 64 bit -
and then uninstall the old Firefox completely -
delete all instances of it - including in App Data folders and so on.
Then run CCleaner and BleachBit and so on.
Then reinstall Firefox. There's a way to tell you got a Clean Reinstall -
If everything has been done right - then one should have to go into Firefox settings -
and set it all up again. Why do this? To keep up - and make sure its right.
My understanding is that Firefox builds up gigantic SQLite files among other things.
That's one of the reasons I keep it cleaned up.
@Batgirl • Both seem identical for me too, maybe because the image reaches the horizontal limits so we can't really verify whether it is aligned left or center.
@Erik • I didn't try to paste image, instead I pasted the url but did not upload the image. That's nice to notice, however. Seems like pasting url behaves similar to pasting the image.
@Playerafar • Thanks. I will proceed with that cleaning/reinstalling Firefox at my day off and then test it again.

Welcome. Clean-Reinstalling Firefox is a light task by the way.
I would say under half an hour. Even under 15 minutes.
I manually update it every time. I do a clean reinstall of it about every three updates.
The major league reinstall - is reinstalling Windows. That can take ten hours or more.
Some of that is away from keyboard of course.
But after getting the clean reinstall set up - then I prefer to get everything streamlined.
And tweaked. Like with freeware Driver Booster
(which I then uninstall after updating Drivers.
)
With WIndows 7 its especially difficult doing a clean reinstall -
because of the clumsiness of Windows update. One needs four patches in advance.
If I was a Professional - I could write nice neat batch files - to auto-tweak Windows -
after the Reinstall. Just have them on a nice neat cheap Lexar memory stick or similiar.
I did a translation on the Live Club Matches, however, I couldn't precisely mirror the news, since there was no way for me to centralize the images while leaving text to the left.
Whenever I tried aligning images, whether by clicking them or selecting them, it would just ignore my clicking, or show nothing selected at the Align options, or even align BOTH image and the text above it.
It is a bit annoying for us bloggers/translators. Ain't no big deal, no one'll die or get sick due to this issue, but the perfectionism within my soul cries out loud and I get swallowed by a glimpse of endless oblivion, bathed in my drained soul imbalance.
What I did is leave the images to the left, along with the text. It is still nice but I wish I could have done it just like in the official blog.
