i was wondering what average cost of chess lessons are

To my knowledge, most private lessons score between $30-$50 per hour.  Probably lower rates for group classes.

See friends, these coaches are charging 40-50$ an hour and giving mediocre lessons. Magnus Carlsen told me that your chess coach should not only make you learn stuff but also practice stuff. Like the famous saying, your mentor should not give you a fish but should teach you how to fish. It is very difficult to find a caring and determined chess coach.
